AnonymousWho can help me out?
My Axo’s have started to come apart. More to the point the soles have started to sererate from the bottoms of the boot. The boots that I have are not like normal bike boots as the sole looks more like the bottom of a pair of joggers compared to the normal soles that are stitched on.
I have tried to re-stick them by using Bostik contact adhesive by making a small hole in the sole and then pumping the glue in using a syringe, then clamping together. That lasted for about 10 minutes and the soles have started to come off again. The boots are only a few months old and I cant really go back to the supplier as they were a replacement pair for a pair of crap Beriks that I had.
So who can recomend something that will hold them together, as they are the most comfortable boots that I have ever had and I want to keep using them.
April 6, 2009 at 9:31 am #128318apparently there is a product called shoe goo aka contact cement.used correctly should hold the old faithfuls, if that fails try Mr sheen:lol: 😆
April 6, 2009 at 9:32 am #128319Don`t sound too good there Dan,,,,
Especially since ya pumped contact in there already.
There are a few rubber vulcanising type glues out there ( I can`t think of any particular brand At the moment)
But maybe it`s worth a try,,,,,, providing you can access the other adhesive toremove it :huh:Good Luck
April 6, 2009 at 9:34 am #128320The best thing for that is a glue from Rema Tip Top called SC2000 its used for rubberlining and belt splicing if you look for a local rubberlining or belt splicing company in your area (Fenner Dunlop, Sandvik, Convatec)they will sell you some
Where are you ??..maybe able to put you on to someone as i work for Fenner Dunlop

AnonymousNot much chance of getting the old glue out as it is between the sole and the bottom of the boot. So what ever I use it’s gunna have to play nice with the other crap.

AnonymousI should clarify – the sole is only coming off where the foot peg touches. Hence why I used the syringe to get the glue in. So what I’ve got is a bubble in the sole.

I agree with Badfuns recommendation good stuff if you can get
it. You can also help a lot by getting some self tapping screws and putting one in every 30mm or so. Ive also used small gauge nails you just have to remember to fold over the protruding sharp bit with a nail punch.
hope this helps
ollie
April 6, 2009 at 9:42 am #128321Yep, Sandvik is over near the Tourle St Bridge, Mayfield West. There is a factory type set up there, I think they have an office at Tomago too, check the phone book first,,,
Don`t hold ya breath though on the glues being compatible ??? Not ideal without starting with a clean surface:unsure:
Hope it works out for ya mate

AnonymousThanks for your help fellas – I knew I could rely on the Old Bulls. Something from the above recommendations should hold them together.
