I am tired, every bone in my body aches ,my nose is running ,I feel like crap,………. those were the thoughts that went through my head when I woke up this morning. A cold mixed with a hangover, had me feeling very second hand this morning.
A Panadol, two coffees and a durrie or two and I was feeling up to it. Kinda!!
The boys started to rock up to my place at 7am.
Todays ride had………..
Micknmeld XR630
KTMRAT KTM 576
KTMBULL KTM525
Pete XR400
Moose XR600
Rick WR450
Puddles WR400
We headed off at 7.30 and I wasn’t all that into it, as we rode out of town, towards the bush.
Once we hit the bush and I saw how good the conditions were, I suddenly felt 100% better and got right into it.
The plan was to ride through Bago, then to Cowarra to meet up with Puddles and a mate of his called Rick at the HVMCC Motocross track and then make a decision then, as to were we were gunna ride.
We soon worked out that Puddles wasn’t all that keen to lead the ride, so I took the reins and sorted out a loop in my head and we headed off.
Jam some tight single trail into them straight away, I thought, so we hit the single trail Chris Hollis cut in for the Husky ride day, wet and greasy conditions soon had the boys warmed up by the time we finished that short section, so then we headed for Bago.
The first water crossing I came to, was deeper than I thought and the XR pulled up abruptly and some how I bashed my goolies, which bought a tear to my eye and rattled me for more than a minute or two.
AS I was playing the ride by ear, I thought we would head into some trails around Milligans road, only to find, full on logging operations going down and all our trails in there destroyed.
The decision was then made in my head to go up onto Bago were it wouldn’t be so wet and boggy.
The hill up onto Bago I chose is normally easy enough , a bit rutted with windrows, easy enough in dry times anyhow.
Unfortunately some 4×4 boys had already given it a work out and it was loose, silty and rutted to buggery.
Near the top, it got very loose and greasy and you needed momentum to get the job done, unfortunately for Puddles he had lost the required momentum, by crashing into the bush to the left of the trail.
Dave went down to give him a hand
Then it also needed Bill to give a hand
The 4×4 in the pic is on its second attempt at the hill, you can see where he got to, on his first attempt, it eventually needed to use its winch to get up the hill.
Here are the boys watching the winch job at the top of the hill.
We finally got Puddles’ bike to the top and he was busted..hhahahha So what does he do?? Light a durrie!!
The next trail we hit was the She Oak trail, which is always a test for the unwary, guess who was unwary?? Puddles again!! We thought he was gunna have a chunder!!
From there we went to big Jurrasic Park which is in great condition at the moment but still a bit of a test. A certain guy on a WR400 appeared to be having a heart attack at the end but he assured me he was OK so we headed on down the big rocky hill.
At the bottom of the hill we were confronted with this.,two trees across the trail. The plan was to build a bit of a bridge over the logs, everyone pitched in
and a mighty construction ensued.
The first bike over, didn’t quite go to plan.
A bit of tweaking soon had the “bridge” passable
Here is Puddles giving it a bash
Black Betty did it in her stride
Yeah Black Betty was there, didn’t crash out, didn’t break down.
Peter on the XR400
Black Betty
Puddles in a Puddle
Rick on the big 450 WR
No ride report is complete with out a pic of Moose in the Familiar sweep vest
Thanks to all the guys who came for the ride, I am sure you all had a great time in what could only be described as perfect conditions, Despite feeling like crap, I had an awesome ride with some great laughs thrown in. I also broke the hoodoo of crashing, everytime I wear my new riding gear.

Even though you found yourself out of your comfort level a couple of times, you came through with flying colours and had a go at the gnarly stuff, although most of the ride was Grade 2-3 there were a few grade 4 sections and you made it through. It can only add to your confidence level.
Congratulations mate.April 10, 2009 at 9:52 am #128669Had a blast thanks for all the top trails and photos Mick

Maybe we should go over there and have a ride, we will only like it more here when we come back, but I have been there before and its about 80% on what we have here, its worth a drive once every 2 years or so:side:

AnonymousHey Piddles NASA rang me and said that global warming is a result of a massive reflection on the earths surface causing the rays and light sent to earth returning to the atmosphere in a concentrated form like some sort of highly polished mirror is redirecting the super concentrated UV rays put out by the sun, this high powered concentrated beam of light and UV is damaging the ozone layer, put a hat on you fark you!
