Everyone that knows me knows that I hold KTMs mid to high-speed steering, rear wheel bias (understeering issues) and rear suspension in absolute disdain, however really do they manufacture a beautifully finished bike with top notch ancilaries and bullet proof engines, excellent in most arenas (most of the time) and while i owned one I too was defensive of the shortcomings, but a short stint on it’s japanese and Swedish (formerly) equivalents and the shortcomings became of epic porportions to I.
One thing I will say is like harley and triumph riders those owning a kTM do have a passion for their brand that causes a bit of bias, but we all suffer this from time to time.
The reality is ride a well set up KTM and yes it will handle as well as a stock Linkage, but ride a well setup linkaged bike and night becomes day, just depends if you are willing to trade the engine and ergos of the KTM for (sometimes) a little less quality. For me it’s about being in the saddle how the bike works as an extension of me, the EXc and I fought for a year or more with each other (on tally of injuries sustained it won), but one sit back on a MXer and I was home.
KTM are a great brand, but not the greatest, just different in focus

My dogs have 4 sticking up ears, weigh around 80 kgs agregate, wag three fluffy tails, run on 12 sturdy legs, have 2 sets of scary chompers, and two decent sets of nuts, but the cat is weirder, cause they are all poopy scared of her and she has nothing but pointy little ears and some claws.
