I know this has been discussed mutliple times, but just wanted to see if there is anything new out there, I am after a HandHeld GPS, that can be bar mounted, (love bar mounted things makes me feel like an ADV rider).. Might see what Steve has got at ADV MOTO, any suggestions.
Cheers
Chris.June 4, 2011 at 11:46 am #202560Reckon it would be hard to find better value for $$$ then the Garmin Map60CSX thst a lot of the guys are now running.
Not too big, waterproof, reliable software, colour screen & works a treat
Wish I had one tp replace my slightly larger Garmin Map76 :whistle:Sounds like you are leaning towards the dark side there Chris
Got some adventuring to do do we ?????? :laugh:June 4, 2011 at 12:01 pm #202564Chris + 1 for what Eags said the Garmin Gsx60 although it’s been updated I think. Love mine easy to use

And my Aldi is a ripper and water proof, has all the trails that the expensive ones have plus more sometimes

June 4, 2011 at 12:09 pm #202570Does the bar mount come with it or separate cheapest price I can find online in $299.00
June 4, 2011 at 12:23 pm #202576Seperate Chris, also you need a hardwire power lead better than batteries. Steve at Adventure does the bar mount stuff and leads I think now Nickj and I got ours from Johnny Appleseed pre Adventure Moto days.

June 4, 2011 at 12:38 pm #202580I had a GPS on my birthday list 2 years ago and so now I’m back on the bike am ready to buy it finally. Is this Garmin what the ADV lads use or is it practical for trailriding too (not massive or cumbersome)?

If you decide it is what you want we may be able to buy them together and get a better price!Cheers
Chris.June 4, 2011 at 7:08 pm #202587I’ll definitely look into it Chris. I want one for similar reasons. My memory is pretty ordinary and would like to lead some rides in the future too. We don’t have any good riding areas out here so we find ourselves riding in everyone elses backyard. Be a good tool for safety reasons too (so I tell the wife).
If we can get a deal then sure I’ll go in. I’ll read some reviews on it and get back to you.
June 4, 2011 at 9:36 pm #202594They have a good mountinfg bracket here http://www.cycoactive.com/Store/2460/Navigation-GPS-Mounts-for-Dual-Sport-Motorcycles Better than the plastic ones.
June 4, 2011 at 10:06 pm #202599Thanks Jeffro. I hope they can take the odd lowside now and again without damage
June 6, 2011 at 12:48 am #202730Thanks for the shots f&f. Good to see the correct model name too, TB threw me with Gsx rather than csx. This model is a few years old now I think? $299 is a good price I think still. So is it easy to follow a saved trip whilst riding? How do you use it in reality on the track?
June 6, 2011 at 12:54 am #202735Sorry Axel, was my fat fingers mashing the key board
