August 1, 2011 at 12:50 pm #205899Whats wrong with everyone else’s gps …………………………………
do they gang up and pick on yours or somethingAugust 1, 2011 at 1:42 pm #205914Bob wrote:Whats wrong with everyone else’s gps …………………………………
do they gang up and pick on yours or somethingThe reason is part of the ride is on private land I have restricted use of and the owner doesnt want others coming along anytime without people he knows, he does understand that they may remember their way but he asked I dont use a GPS for this ride or others on the ride either.
It always seems to raise its head when the one out of 30 rides you ask everyone to leave GPSs behind, if it happens so rarely it must be for a good reason. But someone always fights and asks why and carrys on, well it is for a good reason. I dont want to lose access to this land, I have only been there twice in 6 years and havent taken an OBT ride there before. Bob you arent coming on this ride are you I see

August 1, 2011 at 1:48 pm #205900Hey TB, Time for a Rumbo I think however, a very good common sense response that was well delivered.
BTW, I don’t own nor know how to operate a GPS so there.

Its all good Gaz, I lead rides everywhere on every track I know and this is only the 2nd time in 4 years I have asked so it must be for a reason eh? Bob has been on an Orange ride with me before on some other good tracks out there he knows its normally all good.
Bob was one of only two that made it up the big hill, I dogged it and went around

August 1, 2011 at 2:20 pm #205920Sorry Bob was firing up a little quick maybe  I have had heaps of drama before understand I thought it was starting again
. I try share where I ride and appricate when others share their ride areas with me
Hopefully once I scout these tracks mate you will come on the next ride?

August 1, 2011 at 2:36 pm #205922I know where TB is coming from with the NO GPS thing , we had a local rider in our area attend a ride with a hidden Gps , he then shared it with a country wide riding group who used it for an event. Next thing the Gps coordinates appear on the Internet. Now the trails are destroyed from over use and hardly rideable. A great riding area ruined for locals by one guys carelessness with a Gps. Shame !
August 1, 2011 at 2:44 pm #205923I defend the right of a ride leader to make requests or place conditions on the group. If an individual feels that that is unreasonable then don’t go.
There is a lot of background work that is involved to host a ride and it is up to those that attend to adhere to the rules.I hosted a KTM free ride last weekend and no one complained.

August 1, 2011 at 4:07 pm #205931I completely understand this issue, we have had two iconic riding areas that we as locals have been using for years…..
Then word got around on the internet, and it has every loonytune from SE qld there, and police, and helicopters, and NPWS, and TV crews…
they were such good places to ride too, one of my mates has ridden there since he was under 10, now he won’t even go near it.
Ride organisers rules.
We are even at the point we take newbies on “dummy” runs before taking them to were we actually ride…. you never can tell…
