Next thing the Gps coordinates appear on the Internet. Now the trails are destroyed from over use and hardly rideable. A great riding area ruined for locals by one guys carelessness with a Gps. Shame !
dead right nickj.dead right:evil: 👿 👿 👿
August 1, 2011 at 10:24 pm #205971I would expect anyone on a ride with me to let me know that they have a GPS if its isnt on a their bars. That is in no way a reflection on your post SB its just made me think. I dont use my GPS for 99% of single trail rides, like SB I am a walking GPS hence my nick name  My question is why do you need to take a GPS on a ride, say like the Coffs November ride. I think thats Scotts thing / area and if I was to go back up there would ask Scott to take me around or if he couldnt get my track info off him. I have never used one at Wauchope etc on my XR. Adventure riding is mostly riding trails I dont know in areas I dont know so I need to follow a line.
Sorry for the Scott thing KING is was a slip wont happen again

August 1, 2011 at 10:40 pm #205972I’m happy to share some spots but gps or not there are a a few spots that I enjoy too much to share with the world. Im sure we all do and we should respect the rights of others to do the same.
August 1, 2011 at 11:10 pm #205973as normal ,,I`m too lazy to go back and read the whole thread, but I think the jist is that some times people request the no-one uses a gps on a ride,,, very hard one to police ,,as I have just become the proud owner of a HTC phone,, dont need GPS, got maps, never need a gps. I have also been on a paid ride where they tricked blokes into admitting they had one in their back pack too.how did they manage to trick them?

lets just say they eagerly dobbed themselves in………..
It isn’t just trailriding either, I have been done over by a bloke I took fishing to a “secret spot” only to find out later that he took other blokes there afterwards and they proceeded to rape and pilage the fish stocks.
It all revolves around appreciation and respect that you where held in high enough regard to be taken in the first place.August 2, 2011 at 1:06 pm #205909I was thinking about this a bit more last night. Most riders that can ride from home really don’t need to have one cause they can mostly go for a ride whenever they want. But someone who has to trailer their bike to a ride may be more inclined to use a gps so their can come back. I would’nt think of goin on a ride with some fellas at Bathurst for example and gps the tracks because if i went back there I’d just go riding with same fellas:) Same for OldBull rides. If I had one maybe I’d use it if i got lost to help get back on track/home but I’m in no hurry as managed ok so far.
August 2, 2011 at 1:15 pm #205910I lead a ride recently and had 2 guys come up to me and ask if I mind if they use there gps, good of them to ask I thought.
I didn’t mind at all but did appreciate the respect.
