But we’ll keep this to ourselves and if anyone does happen to mention it later I’ll just play dumb and tell the missus that this is a site set up so all the unstable weirdo’s could chat online and stay off the street.
October 15, 2009 at 8:31 am #156692i’ve nearly come to that conclusion already jak so i don’t think the missus will buy that one and it would only bring bad karma if u blamed it on your young bloke
payback is a bitch and she usually slaps u twice as hardOctober 15, 2009 at 8:34 am #156690Jak, I pulled the rear of my DRZ apart last week whilst the shock was in being re-valved. I noticed the grease nipples on the swing arm pivots feed grease into a channel on the inside of the bearing not directly onto the bearing.
When greasing the rear through the nipples you will need to keep pumping till fresh grease oozes out the outside of the bearing to be sure you flush all the old crap out.
The nipples on the linkages go into the middle of the bearing and seem to feed grease directly onto the bearings better than the ones on the swing arm pivot.
The lower shock mount has no nipple and mine looked alittle dry, not bad but not as good as the one with nipples.
As for the carpet, I got nothin.
October 15, 2009 at 8:41 am #156693The lower shock bearing is the one to watch, if there is any play there it needs replacing.
If you pullout the bolt and shaft which go through the engine & frame be sure to put plenty of grease on them and in the holes, the factory did not and they can sieze in place with corrosion.
ex DRZ owner.
October 15, 2009 at 8:47 am #156694Thanks for that Scotty and Beemer. I went back out and pumped plenty in.
October 15, 2009 at 10:29 am #156695The nipples work pretty good, but to be on the safe side it doesnt hurt to pull them down every now and then and clean, inspect, regrease and reassemble just to be sure

October 15, 2009 at 10:49 am #156730Bi carb soda made into a paste and place on the stain or every day hair shampoo will solve one of your problems, and apparently from what i read oozing grease is a good thing,,,whoda thought
October 23, 2009 at 7:14 am #156739I had to come clean and tell the wife.
Decided to get the pro’s in to clean and they quoted $300 to do one room, 3 couches and two chairs.
(the couches and chairs wernt greased but they had been through a house renovation)
Stuff that thinks me, and off down to the hire shop to hire a carpet cleaner. 2 hours work and the wife is very happy with the results. Cost me $60 and a stiff back.
Gotta love getting out of the shit.
October 23, 2009 at 8:20 am #157765since being married, I no longer do any kind of Bike services/rebuilds in the lounge room… where all respectable bike work should be done…the trade is I keep my Nuts, the bike goes to the shop
