A few weeks ago someone wrote something about Greg Ball closing down. I was speaking with Batman from Battyes Bikes today, and he said that it’s not true. He is expanding into the Unit next door and therefore is not doing as much work at the moment. Also, his other son is joining the business, so I guess that means he’ll be pumping out top class work for years to come!!

Cool, that was me Crash,Madmac wanted to get a sump plug hole repaired but was told he was shutting shop. I want to get my gassers head machined so he probably would be the perfect choice to give it to. Lets hope he is indeed expanding as his work is excellent and price is good B)

Yeah glad that’s sorted thanks Crash, probably should have rang and checked before to be sure. The quailty of his work is beyond question and fairly priced ;)

just got off the phone from Speaking to Greg and he is indeed open for business :) I have just sent my Gassers head off to have the Squish band altered (from 3mm to 1.1mm B) ) He knows what he is taliking about and give me a very competitive quote of $90 to do the job. Only problem is he is flat out and it may take him a week and a half to get it done. Hopefully before the Sofala rd otherwise I may be looking for an alternative ride :(

No surprise just reinforcing the fact that he is open, because when Mac rang a couple of months ago he was closing shop and couldnt do the job that Mac wanted.

2 Honda’s is more than enough! In a pinch I could take the 81 XR500!

Gili’s bike hasnt got enough kays on it yet (or scratches) I might hit Mac up for a loan of his Kato 450 if I need to ;)

Just finished putting the Gasser back together fired her up in 3 kicks B) Certainly noticed the compression increase and the bike just feels gruntier in the short ride I did up and down the street :woohoo: So Im back in the game yeehaa

Here is a list of what I did

Head machined by Greg ball reduced squish from 3.1mm to 1.1mm

new countershaft seal (there goes my auto chain oiler)

    new FT sprocket

rewelded the upper exhaust bracket retainer

    new flexible pipe mounts

    new exhaust gaskets
    removed cleaned power valve
    new power valve bearings
new FWD engine mount brackets I made from Stainless as the alloy ones are shite
repaired the LH radiator where I tore a core (epoxy bond)
repaired and modded power valve linkage
    blast and paint exhaust
    new Wiseco piston kit
    adjusted power valve timing
    new plug
    new grips
    new wheel bearings
    new rear pads
    greased linkages
    renewed oil in Roc stomper

so now she is ready to rip :woohoo: :woohoo:

Nice work Ollie they always require maintance eh. I love the piece of mind that comes after a freshen up.

The piston replacement around the 1500km mark yeah do you have an hr meter? I am just interested as I heard some piston replacement hrs quoted the other day.

I reckon ive put about 5000 kms on the original piston and rings (yes gasgas has 2 B) )and they were both still within spec :) I got the wiseco kit cheap off my good friend Stefan from R&D so while I had some major repairs to do after a serious off I thought I would change it out ;) I know of a Gasgas 300 that has 23000 kms on the original piston and rings (no not Diddels) so that is a testament of how reliable these bikes are if treated right.

I will also recommend Greg Balls work.
Not just his work but we also couriered the work to him.
paid by Credit card and he couriered it back to us.
Thn my girlfriend fitted the head up to her own bike and it worked as well :)
