I guess the top one is new
and I find it shocking that you would have to fit a new one with a crack in it
surpose you would have to face the crack towards the rear of the bike yuck……..
So you were unable to get an equivalent bearing from a bearing dealer…..
Lifespan of bearing would have to be reduced cause at least one of the needle rollers would be rolling over the crack.

I may be wrong….Someone realised that they should have manufactured the split in but after making 100,000 shipped them to India for monkeys I mean people there to hit them with a hammer.

The customer supplied the new one to me (name withheld unless he sticks his hand up)
He noticed it was cracked before he gave it to me.
He returned it to the KTM dealer he purchased it from who told him I cracked it putting it in. (It was in a sealed bag, no thanks to the dealer, they are off my Christmas list!)
Seeing as that was not the case the owner got the dealer to order in another, it was cracked too. And another. All stock in Australia was cracked, 9 bearings.
It was then pronounced “normal” and I just fitted a cracked “stock” bearing. :blink:I’ll guess for you Nick

And I’ll even put my hand up  :laugh:Dickie is the winner :woohoo:
Well done Champ!Cheers,
Lefty

Cool, 03 KTM 525. Was going to get some work done on the front forks as there is virtually no movement. But since all the oil leaked out of one of the forks she seems to go a bit better.
July 17, 2013 at 7:10 am #246203How did I miss this competition?
I guess now anyway… the middle one? :silly:
July 17, 2013 at 7:14 am #246235well just got home from work. I recons the top one as it was dry. Thanks for the heads up I’ll check any NEW bearings that I have to get from now on.

July 17, 2013 at 7:53 am #246236Dickie,
Those 03 525 forks were harsh from new, the 3 bushings and the 14mm damper rod displaced a lot of oil.
We did 2 mods that helped the fork a lot, remove the 3rd busing and fit a high flow compression valve.
Normally a fork service would be $176 plus $80 for seals and wipers and $189 for the kit, $445.As the inaugural winner of my first ever competition how does $225 sound? Half price.
July 17, 2013 at 8:13 am #246238Done deal, I’ll donate the balance to OBT.
