Your welcome, the castle nut just goes in it has no preload you just wind it in until it stops and there is no side movement in the swingarm. Its job is to prevent the frame being pulled in to far if you catch my drift

If you still want to borrow the tool PM me your address

Bike build is progressing well. Shock has been rebuilt, the rear end is almost done.

Clutch bushing has been replaced with updated p/n. I threw some HD springs in when I was putting it back together.

Swingarm and linkage bearings replaced (thanks for the forum feedback on the swingarm binding!)

Moving to the front end shortly.

Looking good mate, do the side cover mod and block the intake from the guard off, stops them getting dusted.

    Keep us posted

Can anyone recommend a good cylinder head re builder? I wasn’t going to touch the engine but have decided to do the top end while I have the XR apart. I’m happy to post the head any where to get a good job done.

Is the XRS Only HRC Cam (copy) any good? again any feedback here would be great.

I’m going to put a fresh piston and rings in, any suggestions on brand?

Any feedback on a top end rebuild I guess. What to look out for and what to replace.

Forks have been sent to Teknik for heavy springs and a revalve.

New RK chain fitted. Running 15-48 gearing.

Michelin AC10 tyres front and back (Suttos MC are selling them real cheap!!)

Was coming along nicely until I decided to do a top end rebuild! More to follow…..

    Where to start….

Top end rebuild: ceramic coated oem piston with fresh rings, stage 1 hot cam, new cam chain tensioner, rebuilt head (new inlet valves only).

Front forks rebuilt by Teknik (thanks for the discount :) )

Acerbis Tank – SDG High Seat

Fired first kick and is running well, currently running the cam in (30 mins at 3000rpm ;) )

Hope to have it in for a dyno tune and road worthy mid September.

Finshed and trail riden. Love it, didn’t miss a beat on it’s first outing. Engine is run in and ready to be dyno run.

Congrats mate awesome job. Did you have the shock done as well? They actually increase the length of the shock stroke ;)
You will have to watch out for a ride next year that will suit the XR down to the ground

Yeah shock was done and modified with a longer stroke.

I’m riding the XR from Victoria to Cairns next year. Next stage of the build is to transform it into an ADV bike. Stay tuned.
