11 of us nutcases from up around here and from down the coast (Polly and Dude) and from out west decided that the idea of sleeping in a nice warm house with the luxury of hot running water and a crapper with a seat for the weekend was for the softies of the world,so off to the hills of nundle we headed. Friday dawned a pearler, sunny skies and just above freezing temperatures, perfect riding weather. 5 of us met at our regular spot and then headed off to the riding grounds, knowing the rest would dribble in throughout the morning.
Camp was established in the cabin we use and the bike prepping got under way. Snowy and I headed out and got a supply of fire wood for the weekend, (dam were legends) slowly but surely some of the rest of the nutcases started to arrive.
The morning was getting on so I decide to pad up and led the troops out on a warm up loop whilst we waited for the rest of the nutcases to turn up.
This loop was around the cabin area and involved some single, some leaf littered fire trails and some 6th gear pinned main track stuff. When we finally got back to camp Polly, Dude, and Damo had finally decided to grace us with their presence. Once this lot had padded up we were off like a bride’s nighty.
The trails were in a mix of condition, the loam singles were fast, the clay single were slippery and the open twin trails were just plain mad. The boy had a ball. There wasn’t too many offs to stir them up about and all the equipment made it through day one without breaking, not bad considering there was some Hondas on the trip.
We got back to camp, got dressed into our best camping clobber and the cans started to flow, and flow hard they did.
The temperature must have been cold because when we turned the key on in one of the vehicles to see what the temp was the display said (your fffnnn mad ).
Tea of roast beef rolls with hot gravy was to die for, Matt from Bikes and Bits Tamworth was to thank for these, he can cook to for a Honda rider.
The next morning dawned to be another ripper, minus a million and sunny with that slight breeze that stops the temperature from rising to quickly.
Padded up I let snow have the lead vest and off we went, the trails were sweet again, it was about 20 ks into the ride when things started going to poo, Matt from Bikes and Bits Tamworth was on a corner when I came through at about twice the speed of sound and when I put the front wheel back on the ground I look up to see him go to turn his HD1080 camera on only to realise it wasn’t on his helmet,,,Bugger I thought we will need to back track and have a bo peep for it. This wasn’t a bad this as Snowy done his normal , take off at 50 billion miles an hour ( the guy is a singles hore), and the boys were unsure where the track went in some spots so they made their own trails. I said to Snow, lets get 2 birds with one stone, look for the camera and keep the group closed up to help cut the trail in. Snow agreed so around we turned and started to head back, 200 meters in Snow clipped a tree at 10k an hour and this put him off balance and when he put his right leg out to stabilize himself the ground was wet and his foot slipped and down he went like a bag of shit. Trash 1 ACL, he said he heard it pop. My instincts cut in and I went straight for his wallet, and then I asked if he was OK. Polly and I rode the invalid out of the forest and back to camp after contemplating bringing in a 4×4 to pick him up.
This was Snows ride over; actually I think this might be quite a few rides over for him.

The others headed out to the berry patch for lunch and they all got back safe with only a couple of flats and some deviations to show the foreigners our grounds.
Snowy organized someone to come up and pick him up because we told him to bugger off when he asked if we would drive him home.
That night around the fire was hilarious, Dude at his best, or is that his worse.
We drank the camp dry (no mean feat when you know how much medicine had taken up there).
Sunday was a gentle ride around the forest and we packed up and took of home.

All in all apart from that useless Snowy injuring himself the weekend was a ripper. Thanks to all that turned up and once again a huge thanks to Demus for sweeping the ride.
