Crash caressing the 250 up a loamy sth coast hill on the 2nd run :SVids to follow as well.
Cheers to Hatto and his bikie gang, Paul and his family for putting up with us, and the pros on the ride. Good times.
March 17, 2012 at 3:33 pm #218299Another nice ride down the coast.
Thanks heaps to Hatto, Pauly and everyone who made the trip.
It was a “clockwork orange” as me and Crash were surrounded by 7 KTMs (even though my bike is KTMs dirty blue cousin
)
I hope the South Coast loam was worth the trip Galey, you seemed to be loving it.
Crash was reveling in the conditions and thankful that he wasn’t manhandling the big XR through the tight, moist and sometimes steep rocky conditions (thanks for the lift maaate)
Unfortunately there wasn’t any hills that Galey couldn’t make it up
March 17, 2012 at 3:38 pm #218300Crash lived up to his name a few times, he even “crashed” while walking down a hill to give someone a push, ended up like a turtle on his back. It was slipperyer (is that a word?) walking than riding.
March 17, 2012 at 5:21 pm #218301You Boys look like ya’s had a great day. :woohoo:
I reckon you have more fun in the rain.
Yesterday was heaps of fun for us too.
Whats with all the orange bikes?
Looks like a rash.
Hope to see more WR’s out and about soon.
Dare I say it, but there is just too much orange lately.
Cheers
MurphMarch 17, 2012 at 6:21 pm #218291Hatto first up mate, thanks for making the ride happen and leading us through some brilliant terrain, a good mix of everything.
Good group and the pace was up all day,and also some tight technial sections which tested a few of us.
Galey good effort making the trip down from Bathurst for the South Coast loam fest.
Looking forward to next one.
March 17, 2012 at 6:29 pm #218307Pauly, also too thanks to you and your family for everything.
You boys will have to come up to Sunny Corner for a weekend.
Catch up soon.
March 17, 2012 at 9:48 pm #218309Lads , yes the trip was awesome and the loam, better than Sunny Corners loam.
Crash came unstuck coming to my aid as I took a fresh line up a hill and went nowhere. Crash slipped a over t and whacked his scone with his helmet drawing blood from his snoz. I used the ruts from then on and crash didnt help anybody else. :silly:
LC, I didnt need any excuses this tour as I had the right gearing, tyre, tube, power valve spring etc.
March 18, 2012 at 1:55 am #218327Storm hit with lightening, thunder & rain waking me up on the lounge around 2am. Went to bed – raining.
Up early – still raining
Drove to LC’s & loaded up – still raining
Drove an hour or so South, fuelled body, emptied body :pinch: – still raining
Arrived at Paulys – NO RAIN :cheer:
His place looked like a cross between the local bike shop and a Hare Krisna convention!!! ORANGE EVERYWHERE !!!
7 KTM’s of the 9 bikes there!!
Said our G’days, suited up & away we went!
We started off nice and easy, everybody dodging as much water as possible to start with, Crikey there was some water on the ground. We had a bit of a wait not far in……..I think one of those 300s’ airboxes might have detected high humidity in a creek or something, not sure.
The riding was brilliant. Once again, just like Wauchope, our ‘tour operator’, had picked some great tracks. Seemlessly linking up all different types of terrain. We had fast sandy twin, really technical slow single, wide open fire trail, relatively new single that was in need of a trim (luck Hatto went first & absorbed all the water droplets off the plants – thanks mate – he would wring out his jersey etc at the end of each run
We had a couple of rippa uphills & a memorable switchback upon switchback steep desent downhill (Murph would have loved it) that had Pauly going off big time at the bottom. Very funny. There was a few runs along the various sections of Powerlines. A few slippery exits & climbs from creeks too. One beauty saw Hatto ripped clean off his bike when vine hooked under his helmet. It cut up his lip a bit, but he was OK. We cleared the vines & everyone tractored up. Except for me. I struggled to get grip up out of this section. So, the boys gave me a few pushes & got out of there. I soon learned that 2 gear was the secret (thanks LC) – even on the Runt(250). It sure was hot & steamy in places – the camera was fogging up a fair bit, but I think I got some decent footage to show you all what the terrain was like. That will do for now.
A big thanks Hatto & Pauly. It was great to ride with LC, Marty, Galey, Gocman.
March 18, 2012 at 10:01 am #218292After the rain we have had down here, last week was a ripper,
sun and wind, just what was required for a local ride to show some visitors our trails, I was pumped and ready to go. Sitting on the lounge on friday night have a bundy or 4  it started to rain,
with thunder and lightning. just a storm I thought -perfect. At 11pm it was still raining and after watching the mighty Dragons decimate the pussy cat tigers it was time to hit the bed. Not a good sleep(too excited) but rain was still falling and I knew this would make it interesting for the day ahead. (50mm Rain)
Up at 6am and down to Pauly’s by 7.30 (thanks Dahle for the coffee), and like clockwork the boys started arriving, meet and greet, dressed and ready to go. 8.30am precission, planning. (galey just made it in time)  . Gocman, whats doing, blokes our age are suppost to have conditioning, man you are ripped- you really need to get off the roids:laugh: your a disgrace to the over 40’s looking so fit and healthy
Quick breifing and we were off, five mins through town and onto the powerlines, first little section (we call bodies in the Barrels) and come to the first water/boghole for the day, Now this changes everytime we go through there and being in the lead the guinnea pig for line, anything could happen but we all got through. 100 mtres on and boghole No2, I thought we all got through so dropped a couple of corners on some nice flowing track. stopped for a regroup, having a chat with Gocman-no one is coming, decide to limp back and it’s discovered, Galey has an airbox full of mudsludge :S and Pauly with some water-sorted and back into it.. I could hear some bikes of in the distance and knowing that it is fast and flowing warn everbody. Get to the top and Ken and Ian are there waiting for us, they weren’t coming because KOB but since that was cancelled, decided to join us, off to log cabin for a quick top up of fuel and into the days riding.hatto
To Be continued
March 18, 2012 at 10:37 am #218363Gocman your secret is out. I hate getting changed at the same time as the Goc as he puts me in the shade with those guns. Well those finely tuned 300’s do require some strength to harness all that power.
Yes the 300 got through the bog and then a heap of sand and water filled the airbox and went past the filter. A quick dewater and another plug Katie came to life. I think Pauly just had water on the electrics that sorted itself while I was mucking about.
March 18, 2012 at 10:37 am #218293Part 2
Off we head into a beutifull little single and it was wet both on the ground and on the trees. One of the pitfall when leading in wet conditions is copping all the water on the leaves as you brush past
and by the end of this section I may as well have jumped in the pool before leaving  , but everybody was enjoying themselves so we press on. This next part is high speed flowing FT, there were plenty of roos out, but with 9 pipes barking down the trails they were getting the Hell outa there fast.
Next single is a work in progress, now well defined but the amount of rain and humidity we have had down here this summer, some serious re-grothe has been happening- looks like a vist by the trail fairiers is required. through goat track-couple of nice creek crossings and almost to the end, we find our first tree down. out with the saw, Galey and crash jump off, get a new line sorted  and continue on. Way to go guysFrom here it’s another fast flowing link with a couple of creeks which by the end had Galey Yahooing  . Here we turn into a fairly new sinle which is one of the most slippery tracks you will ride, it always feels like you have a flat and if you are off the bike you struggle to stay on you feet, (aye Crash) This track is only about 5km,s long but we emerged from it at 11.50 am so we soaked up some time in there- did I mention it was slippery, it was like two female jelly wrestlers on lino 😆
Crash you need longer legs mate :woohoo:On to a hill called Prozac, and those who rode it understand, It a switchback track dropping off the side of a cliff, rock boulders, off camber corners and steep but not very long. i knew it would be interesting b ut we all got through. This is where Pauly had his little menapausel moment and when he got to the bottom the dummy hit the ground, . I had commented to the others his exact words when he caught us and right on que, he let fly with some language which would make kevin Bloody Wilson cringe 😆
but all was good, I knew they would love the track from here on with 2 ripper hills to finish off our accent out of the valley.Time for lunch – all were hungry

March 18, 2012 at 11:42 am #218365A good ride had by all A little wet a little slippy. Thanks to the guys that made the effort to come down and ride a bit of our South Coast heaven.
Hatto I think I needed a shot of Prozac after we got to the bottom of that hill but it was worth it for the ride out fully pinned on that loam nice. Also Hatto I think we must of left 2 guys out there as I only counted 9 pipes coming home.Countings never been your strong point
Hope to see you guys down this way again. Galey started to work on Hatto for a sunny corner ride will keep you informed.
Cheers
PaulyMarch 18, 2012 at 11:48 am #218374What do you mean, nowhere does it say 11, put you glasses on and read again
