I know what it feels like, “the feeling of being busted up after a ride”
I’m 48 and trying to keep up with my 20 yr old son
And I can tell ya true that it aint never gunna happen. :(
The one saving grace is I can always say that I taught (spelling)? him everything. ;)
    Sounds like a good ride
Hatto, if you break it up into two days of riding, we’ll have to come down your way. B)
    Cheers

C mon LC every one nows that is text book hill paddling. Anyone can ride a bike on the pegs.
But picking on the bike is a bit rough it wasn’t to long ago that I recall Lc on orange not something that is made up of the left over parts from the KTM factory

    The bullshit just comes naturally.

    Cheers

No worries Hatto. I had plenty of time to walk down the hill to get the vids while you blokes were getting untangled and sorting yourselves out for another run. :silly:

Pauly, how much rear pad did you have left if any?

Ouch. You may as well name and shame the brand  to alert your fellow OBTers or was it a case of the loose nut riding the bike too aggressive on the rear?

I have been using the same brand for few years now with no problems so it could be a 1 off problem or it could be the loose nut but I don’t usally use the brakes much. haha

Hatto’s Moist, Tight and Warm Sth Coast Ride B)

    Part 1

Departing the Menai Hilton, the rain was steadily coming down and the further South we travelled the harder it got. With a positive attitude we pushed on until Albion Pk Macca’s where we met the Gocman with the rain stopping. You beauty, we headed for Pauly’s. :)

Arriving at Pauly’s place we were greeted by Hatto, Pauly and his family with the offer of a hot drink from Pauly’s wife. The hot chocolate went down a treat as we got ready for the days riding. As usual I was the last to get kitted up.

The gang was Hatto (KTM450), Pauly (KTM450), Marty450 (KTM450), Gocman (KTM300Recluse), LC (Berg450), Crash (CRF250) and myself KTM300 mounted. We headed off to pick up a couple of buddies from the Sth coast crew but they were MIA. A quick happy snap of happy faces and clean bikes and gear was done( see pic 1) then Hatto got us into the thick of it, the infamous “Bodies in a Barrel Trail”.

Hatto charged into the mire with me taking a watching brief of his line through the slop. Man, I don’t know if it was the best line as his KTM was getting swallowed up the further he went and running over logs or bodies and his 450 was bucking around like no one’s business. Hatto assured me it was cool and the 300 charged in without drama. Stopping on the other side to render assistance if needed, I shut Katie off. The pro’s on tour made it across without issue and took off. Pauly had some trouble with his KTM dying once on dry land and my girl did not start up either. It had water and sand inside the air box with a wet filter. Off with the filter and plug to dewater the beast. Pauly had his issue sorted and we headed off to the regroup.

We charged into some more singles when we met up with Ken (KTM530) and Ian (KTM450), some ride buddies of Hatto and Pauly’s. Two more orange beasts were added to the throng of orange. The pace of the group was high as Hatto led us through endless singles linked by short firetrail sections. B)

Soon enough we popped out at a servo for a top up of fuel before descending into the valley.

Hatto took us into the singles that were slightly overgrown which resulted in Hatto getting drenched by the branches. Some ruts on the corners were hard to tell how deep they were, these now being filled with slushy water, they were hard to judge whether or not to use them or go beside them. Sometimes the bike made the decision for you.

Some fast power line firetrail sections next up were fun, but you had to be careful of hidden 4×4 bog holes. Marty450 ducked into the following single track ahead of me and as much as I harried him, He didn’t make a mistake or let me past. He showed his appreciation by unloading his rear tyre and filling me in. Lessons learnt and pay back with Sunny Corner loam will be a beearch my 4st friend. 👿

At the regroup all were happy except muddy ole me and my 300. Marty450 may post up a pic he took of a muddy Galey and 300. More singles followed with twists and turns through the natural scrub. We had a tree down across our track, so Hatto whipped out his trail saw and got busy. Ten minutes later LC had charged through the newly made bypass and deemed it good. Hatto asked me to lead to the end and I got a drenching. Just as well it was not long before we came out on the baby shit yellow firetrail. The lads had warned us not the go silly with the throttle as it was greasier than a stuck pig. All got through without drama.
