i’ll buy a drum off you at $2.50 a liter
by my calculations it’s $3.25/L
you can get 98 PULP at some servos now :side:
I know what you can get, the problem is do you want what they put in the 98 PULP.
I prefer not, that stuff is not designed for carburetored engines

July 20, 2010 at 9:26 am #184288mmmmmmm that’s bad for KTM to be promoting race fuel for KTM, meaning that there more power left to find in the running gear or the product is too slow out on the trails and we need to plug into the power point at night to keep up with the Jap Bikes.

The fancy PULPS have additives that make the fuel denser etc, which means your bike with a carby really needs to be jetted for the fuel you are using, They are designed for fuel injected cars that can adjust fuel/air ratios on the run to maximise their efficiency.
I’m happy with 95PULP whatever the brand, plain straight liquid hydrocarbon with no fancy additives. It does have a different blend spec depending on the time of the year & EPA requirements. Ie: in winter it will have lighter hydrocarbons like butanes blended, whereas summer these aren’t blended for environmental reasons as well they will boil off & give vapour locks etc.
When I filled the jerry cans at Condo for Yellow Mountain the nozzle iced up, high butane content for winter
July 20, 2010 at 1:15 pm #184302Branded race fuels and I am assuming tis one being such a fuel would have more than just an octane rating to give it an edge, this is what I was getting at, 98 from the servo al things being equal will not hold a match to a properly formulated race fuel.
there are fuels and then there are Fuels, some race fuels even have a high oxygen content, which is half the secret to Nitro-methane, as it combusts it gives off oxygen.
Try something like this with your timing at standard (whatever yu have now) then advance it a little (and just a little), and it should all things being equal give you quite a different feeling response.
And now knowing some of what is inside TBs red dragon I would say his will like it more than a little, just giving his cam overlap and higher comp chamber.July 20, 2010 at 1:31 pm #184323We always buy the premium fuel 98 octane stuff it seems to be good I have noticed the lack of power in the car if you put in the 91 blended stuff but thats just the car so its not important as long as the bike starts and runs and keeps going i am happy
