Jeff Leisk walked into the KTM Australian factory motorcross team and told all there it was shut down there and then on the spot just like that.

KTM will be giving bikes and limited support to another team whose name I was told but for the life of me cant remember.

The official team that was shutdown yesterday was costing KTM over $1 million a year I was told ?

As KTM bike sales are down over %50 I was told by the same source this may have something to do with it?

I am trying to find out if this affects the KTM off road team that has been very successful.

Maybe all this is part of their fabulous marketing Moto has been going about this morning?

Its only a rumor at the minute but as the out door motocross series is finished in Australia for 2009, the timing would be right and it came from a very good source it maybe true

    Stay tuned

Interesting given that KTM were the spomsors of the recent Road Race Formula XTreme round at Wakefield Park and rumours associating them with a new Road Race team and series in 2010.

The road race thing could be to help push into the road market as they seem to be developing road bikes rather then up grading dirt bikes at the moment IMO

Maybe the difference between Wonkas’ Off Road team and Leisks’ Motocross team is results compared to Cost!
I think the Off Road Team will still exist.

I know they’ve just done a pre-release on an SX350 in the states which is said to be the first step towards the new mx class they’re aiming for.

Given they haven’t won anything in motorcross in years I’d hardly say it’s surprising.

Very interesting. Only this week I had one of those hero moments when I took the better half to lunch at our local pub and saw Jeff Leisk there having lunch with another guy.

Wish I’d a little sat closer now and listened into their conversation, may have been able to get a scoop, :(
