    Oregon Scientific Model : ATC2K

This is a self-contained, hands-free digital video cam delivers full color digital video in 640 X 480 VGA at 30 frames per second and sound, although wind noise can be a problem son=metimes. I liked it because I didnt have to have any wires etc attached to my helmet it is water proof to 3 meters and I was always worried when I had my 20 to 20 helmet cam that as I had to carry a cam corder etc in my cambel back that it could get wet! PC and MAC compatible, ATC2K works with most video editing software. Expandable up to 2GB on a standard SD card, that 2GB gives you about an hr on its highest res setting, it comes with different mounts and included. Its powered by two AA batteries and is easy to use.

Problem I have had is I have mounted mine on my Helmet and havent spent the time setting it up right, I did to sit down work it out and test it, because it doesnt have a view finder you have to plug it into you TV or computer the check you have it set up right, no big drama just I havent done it. I have some footage from it and rate it.

Ballards have them for sale for $249 I think, I bought mine on E bay from a seller that still has them for $187.00

Gyday Badfun,I originally had (still have)a Helcam 520 line job it plugs into a PMP device which has a video in jack. the quality is top notch but I no longer use it as all the cables that you need are a pain in the arse and it only takes a 1GB sd card.I also have the latest version ATC3K which uses a much better 4GB SD card. The Video quality is Ok but you do get a lot of wind noise, also the on/off button is a pain to operate and like TB said it takes a bit to get the camera properly setup. On the downside It also sticks out to the side of your helmet a a fair way,so if your thrashing through the bush there is a chance that you may get hung up in some vines or hit with a sapling or stray Goanna maybe :woohoo: You also need to take some cotton buds with you to clean the lense as the aperture is quite small. I paid $235 off ebay for it and I guess I am reasonably happy with it.Hope this helps

    cheers Ollie

No probs mate,I forgot to mention that it also now has a wider angle lense so you dont get that tunnel vision sensation a definate improvement and you can also use the new one as computer cam.

    cheers Ollie

The ACT2K look good value for money. I can think of a lot of other things I could spend $1400 on though!

I still haven’t seen any footage from yours Ollie. Did you get your backflip on our first ride?
