you blokes wear ear plugs? for real? on dirt?

If you’re doing high speed adv riding have you considered a “dual purpose” helmet, cause a good road helmet (Arai, shoei et al;) is almost silent inside.
Personally I choose cool over wind noise in the dirt, but having said that most of my riding is at less than 40kph

Probably don’t get earplugs on dirtbikes cause I’m fairly deaf in the right ear, Wearing hearing protection using chainsaws and logging machinery only became common in the late eighties, by then it was a little too late for some

I wear ear plugs Bruce road, dual sport, singles, slow, fast racing or just any riding to save whats left of my hearing (trade abuse). I also have dual sport and road helmets I find it reduces engine / pipe noise just taking the edge of it. I can still hear the bluetooth in my ear and conversation when stopped actually find it strange riding without now

Each to his own I did find it a little strange at first years ago when I started looking after my hearing  , 2004 when I went to the cape if I remember right

Maybe I am just old

It’s as i suspected TB, different riding habits, My roadie helmet is a very very quiet top of the line (in 1998) Shoei, as the wind noise riding the country roads at “speed” is a bugger.
I have never thought about it on the dirtbikes as I actually like the sound as part of the sensory input, but as you said you’d get used to it…. might give it a shot see what it’s like.

Bruce you dont lose the sensory input it just has the sharp harsh edge taken of it. Couldn’t do it without that anyway. Give it a decent try I think it helps your inner ear and balance but I also think the Knights will win the premiership this year :P

I find the engine noise is clearer without the wind noise when wearing the earplugs and think it sounds better.

Tell me LC4, the thing off the bat mobile at the rear of the helmet – can it be done away with?

You’ll need it to keep your head steady at the speeds you’ll be doing on that new bike!

Hmmm, I think you’re right Beemer. Perhaps I should fit a second one. ;)
