I am trying to put the new bars on the narny but I have hit a snag.. I can not get the old grip off the throttle assembly, new grips are there waiting to go on so the state the old one ends up in doesnt worry me.

The problem is the grip looks like it has been glued on with some form of really good glue and it wont budge, anyone got a suggestion as to how to remove a original grip..

maybe cut down the length each side, the put in tub of hot water to help loosen the glue’s grip.

    pardon the pun.

    then peel like a narny.

typed too slow again. beaten to it.

You gotta be quick to give help around here, that’s a good thing. I have been on other sites where threads asking for help have been unanswered for days until I got on. (not that I was much help)

Boony I replaced the grips on my daughter’s 85 the other day & they were glued on good. I had to just slice peel & scrap until I had all the glue & grip off

Worse comes to worse, a new throttle tube is only about $15.. hardly worth the effort. That is another way to look at it.

I hope you used my tried and true method of gluing grips: Warp the bars in insulation tape (one layer only). Swish a small amount of petrol around inside the new grip and slide it on. The petrol melts the inside of the grip and it slides on nice and easy. Leave it to cure for a few hours (the colder it is the longer it will take) then Robert’s your mother’s brother! If you like you can then put some wire on as insurance.

The insulation tape prevents the problem you have just encountered and you can cut the grips off when they are done with.
