Hey Gang, great site, well done all. Used to ride YZ’s and RM’s in the 70’s so yes I’m an old fart 😆 :woohoo:

I still ride on the road regularly though, but in recent times have had a yearning to share with my 16yr old son the joy or weekend trail riding. We’re new to the Newcastle area and for that matter NSW, so I’m unsure of where you can ride and the general rules. So any advice on such would be most appreciated

Welcome Squzzy to OBT……. I’m sure you will meet many more old farts on this site (its full of them!!…. except me:lol: ). I do allot of riding up at Morisset – in the Watagan’s…. Adventure and Single track type trail riding….your more than welcome to do some bush bashing.

Gday Squizzy, welcome to OBT. Good onya for wanting to spend some quality time with your son. I regularly ride with my son and we have a ball, although he now all but whoops my butt. :huh: AS Katgirl said the Watagans would be the closest place for you to ride. If you travel an hour or two further afield you will find some less crowded places to explore.

Hey again gang, thanks indeed for such a warm welcome and quality advice. Just need to get the bikes now and then hopefully will be able to tee up a ride with some of you local guys.

Will certainly check out Watagan’s, I take it Mr Plod is pretty vicious round these parts?? 👿 Do you need a full road rego for bikes you ride in the bush here?:unsure:
