October 11, 2011 at 1:55 am #210314Hey Wolfie, KTM 450 all the way mate! everyone I know or have ridden with on a husky hasn’t been real happy or have had issues, but just my story in the end it’s your choice but I would go KTM over Husky.
Cheers

Welcome to the site mate
Always rides going on here so when you decide on a bike, I hope to seeya out on the trails
I am onto my third KTM and I must say that they seem to be unbreakable
The last 525 had 15700kms on the clock and was still going strong.
Cheers
Murph the surfOctober 13, 2011 at 10:30 pm #210315Welcome Wolfie [watched Terminator movies too many times did you?
].
I’m not far from you, Bligh Park.
I have a Wee-Strom for general riding and trips and an old KLR650 I bought to re-learn my outdated dirt skills.I’d go the Kato before the Husky, but I’d go a DR or a Yammie before either of the others [sticking with Japanese bikes has become my preference after my experience with a Beemer so I’m not overly keen on the European stuff :S ].
Choose what suits you best and enjoy the ride.

“What’s Wolfie barking at Janelle?”Careful you don’t get mistaken for a Yowie out on a camping trip one night.

Chris.October 17, 2011 at 7:09 pm #210513Hi Chris,
I hope this help’s you mate, from my experience & close analysis of the bikes specifications.
The true comparison between the latest TE449 & the KTM450 is the KTM’s 2012 release as this has all the good stuff on it.
The very latest 2012 KTM has the same fuel injection system as TE449 & my BMWG450x.
The KTM has the same shape front fork tubes as the MOZZEKI on the BMW & rear shock linkage is similar on both TE & KTM but the KTM has a cheap plastic retention nut for rear shock spring pre-load?? & the TE has the swing arm pivot at the secondary drive like the BMW which allow you to run tighter chain drive & less adjustment plus more traction.
There is allot or discussion around the traction issue but the BMW & TE449 will perform better on hill climbs.
The write ups on TE front & rear are good, KTM 2012 all good as well.
Test ride one mate.I think the 3 bikes I mentioned are all at a new standard & you will be happy with any of them in yu shed!
It may come down to dollars decision for you, both should come with sli[p on akro exhuast!there are many more subtitle differences on the 449 & BMW which can easily be over looked so drop us a line if you like!
Good luck & have fun wit it, KFP Aka Garry
