Because I felt sorry for you big bore riders and thought you’d be safer in large groups, before those whizz-bang smaller bore valve munchers round yous all up and push you into a tar-pit or something, just after they’ve done the same to us 2T riders. Besides Glenn’s one of the good guys who likes a stir and rides an XR650, where else is he gunna go and feel at home?

December 6, 2009 at 10:43 pm #164167He will be safe here among the ever growing herd of big bore XR’s.

And that’s exactly why I feel safer when you congegrate in groups, I stop and just listen into the wind and can hear you stampedeing into the valley, which gives me time to find a nice little kangaroo run to hide in.
Although once I get my WR gearbox fitted, I might be able to run with the pack.
A lithe gazelle amongst the thundering elephants………
That the laughing hyenas cannot get too.

December 12, 2009 at 2:54 pm #164072My hello was a bit brief, so sorry about that.
There seems to be a few XR tragics on here for sure.
The 650r i have now is the first XR i have ever had,
the things were just too slow back in the day lol.
But these 6fiddys honk.
Haven’t bikes changed alot over the years?
They go handle and stop now.I picked the 650r because its is not expert at anything,
but we can do just about anything.
Single track to desert.
Idle along all day with my kid or flat out all day.
It just has a beautiful motor this bike,
man i been out west doing 150kph all day for near 600km’s.
Park her up and next day first kick and do it all over again
day after day.
There is one thing with this bike it can take some big hits,
the harder ya ride it the better it gets.
She’s had a few things done to it
and at the moment it is in bits,
just have to find the time to put it back together.
But work just gets in the way of doing just that.I rode a bit of MX as a kid and speedway and flat track.
Did a few enduro’s and pony expresses.
Gave away bikes when i left townsville to work,
mainly to pay the house off as quick as i could.I am working at that tunnel there building under the river
in Brisbane at the moment.
There commisioning it at the momment,
so there is alot of hours to be had there.
Mid feb is when most guys will be punted.
But feb next year there will be alot of construction
happening around aussie.
So i don’t know what i want to do at this stage.
Some overseas opportunities are appearing,
one in argentina, hhmmm dakar is in that country. This year the safari is on the agender.
So if anyone has a map reader and ico for sale let me know.Well thats enough waffle from me.
Cheers
GlennDecember 12, 2009 at 9:59 pm #164073:woohoo:
That Fiddy sounds like a wicked machine tooTB will be pleased to hear about it no doubt,,,
As for the Map reader etc, speak to Ecks,,, hid bro in law (Dave Finlay) did the Safari this year on a Husky 610
He might have some contacts or even be willing to part with his(unless he`s gonna do it again) which would be another good read for us
All the best amyway with the setup if you go ahead with it mate
