Coming back to dirt and road riding after a few?? years (late 1970’s was last bike ownership and completing in enduros).
Up till then had a succession of road (Yamaha RD350, Suzuki GS750, Suzuki Katana briefly ) and dirt bikes. (Yam DT250A, Yam IT400, Bultaco Fontera 360, Suzuki PE250)
Sold the Katana and the PE250 to buy a commuter boat when had kids and moved to water-access-only house.
Early 2011 bought an old 2000My Triumph Sprint RS 955i triple .
So much fun, why did I ever sell my bikes! But then started missing DIRT fun.
Saw SMH article last year for APC rally, entered, later bought an old 2005My KTM 625SXC LC4.
Since then have been besieged by a succession of medical hassles ( Knee op gone wrong, then unrelated antibiotic resistant leg infection, and now back joint stuff but cotizone spinal injections bloody good drugs) .Arrrrgh! Dont like this getting old stuff.
Been spending a heap of money and slowly setting up the old KTM and armouring up my body (thanks Steve for all the gear) but have done very little dirt riding between medical stuff, except for the last day of the NSW APC 4 day ride – What a blast!
Need to get much more practice for APC, remembered Steve mentioning “Old Bulls” website and had a look a couple of days ago. Yes, a shakedown ride this weekend. Whoo Hoo.
Though the distance of the first days track is a bit daunting. See how I go.
Bike still needs more work completed for full APC (just got my new Lynx fairing today)
So, just back early from work this afternoon and starting packing up stuff now.
Guess I will see a few of you tomorrow at Steve’s place at Dural.
