    Hi everyone, my name is Dave.

    I’m a keen road rider looking at moving across onto a dual sport for some off road action, and exploring some of the paths less ridden.

    I met Struckey at the Sydney motorcycle expo over the weekend at the Adventure Moto stand, he was kind enough to spend some time and explain a few things to me, and put me onto this forum.

    I’m looking for a DR650 as something easy to ride, easy to fix, and reasonably cheap to setup for long range touring. My longer term plans are a trans-Australia trip including the Simpson Desert next year, and maybe something longer range the year after that B)

    Anyway, I’ll be lurking the forum and getting ideas on setup etc, and hope to come on a few group rides for some practice!

    Welcome Dave,

    Plenty of 650 pilots on the forum so I am sure you will find the info your looking for. Plenty of rides being organized regularly also. The Nav rides that trailboss puts on are fantastic fun, hopefully you can get yourself to one next year.

    We are doing the flinders in April next year and looking forward to it quite a bit…. understatement :woohoo: :woohoo:

    Welcome to the site ;) As it has been said you will have nothing but good times here B)

    You mentioned that you were looking at getting a DR650…… Well proven machine and very reliable, however there is another more modern option from Yamaha which we will be testing soon that you would have seen at the Adventure Moto stand.
