I rode it for a job at Timbertown at Wauchope for 5 years and naturally got pretty good at it and they suggested I have a go at the Australian P.F championships in Tasmania. I saw it as a holiday and got bit of a shock they take it really seriously and there was guys from all over theworld there wanting to win!! So I kicked their arses and after the race sat down and had a beer and a smoke while they had their space food sticks and gatorade. Ha ha.Mate if the greenies want to have a go at anyone they should look at the 4×4 boys as they are stuffing the tracks up this way, oh yeah and the bloody horse riders, who’s horses shit grain seed everywhere in the bush.
Well that’s an interesting story. Especially starting to ride one for a job!!
So did you go back for the subsequent years or had the beers taken their toll? Maybe a regulation to wear egg shaped highly aerodynamic helmets put you off?
Thanks Shane, you don’t ride anymore??

KTM riders would understand the word rattle its explained in their manuals lol

Yeah I went back the following year and still did well and won several events but the old dickie knee gave me some trouble and then I crashed in the 30km road race and drilled my self and decided I would do something safer like dirt biking.Ha ha
I still ride it around town and when mates are at my place and we have had a few beers as it is always good for a laugh……..Ay Zippo?August 27, 2008 at 4:12 am #107487
AnonymousI’ve found a way around the technical ‘glitch’. My bike, despite a weekly thrashing actually doesn’t rattle at all. I’m quite impressed.
What’s the deal with the Karma? I just gave you 1 Karma TB in trying to suss it all out. I haven’t deducted the remaining 34 for blasphemy against the flying orange yet though
August 27, 2008 at 4:17 am #107488lol, hey I have been there, I had KTMs when the colour was white, left hand kick starts and expensive as hell to run
Hey one thing hasnt changedTB

AnonymousThey certainly cost more more to run than your XR. Can’t beat one of those for low maintainence fun. Plenty of chug on the trail too. Get it on the single track though and it’s a bit more of a handful. It’s got the flickability of Harley!
August 27, 2008 at 4:42 am #107455Good call Moto, I rode the 08KTM530 all weekend as it was in the tight stuff, so my XR600 got the weekend off.Man I wish it had a magic button.

AnonymousWe met up with a couple of Yammy riders the other week who really stuggled on some of the hard technical hills. So much so in fcat that I had to ride one of the bikes up most of them, not being used to their bike, the dodgy clutch and lack of torque I kept stalling it.
I can honestly say it’s a total bitch having a kick start on the side of a loose, steep, slippery hill!
So what did you reckon to 530 compared to the XR?
August 27, 2008 at 4:48 am #107493hey just like when I was in the navy, steering warships, just got to flick it a klm or so before the corner.
Mick kickstart it and harden up!
