Still looks shit loads different. The one in the link has a smoother looking fairing, spoked wheels and USD forks.

Man do I need to engage the brain a bit more. I do remember thinking it looked different but I just put it down to less plastics or something. I need to upgrade the observation skills when you don’t even notice the forks are totally different.

I’ve only just realised (observation skills again) that I’ve now posted in the adventure riders forum. Does this mean I’ve now lost my edge or am a traitor. Not sure how I’m feeling now. Maybe it entitles me to ask for help to pick up my bike under the pretense it is too heavy to do it solo. I think I can feel my single track skills ebbing away already.

Turns out there are two different bikes. The one pictured up top is the VFR800X. This bike is listed as a sports tourer and uses the old VFR800 v four motor.

The link is to the VFR1200X Cross Tourer which is the new loosely defined ADV bike and uses the motor and frame from the new VFR1200F.

Reading the article its sounds like Honda don’t really expect potential buyers do see much off road work. I seems the Cross Tourer is aimed at those riders that want a comfortable long distance tourer, with the image off an ADV bike.

It seems that the VFR800x is also the Crosstourer then Scotty as it too has the Crosstourer badge on the side , I got the picture from the Honda site so I assumed it was the correct bike ? Thanks for finding out the extra info on this bike :)

Although Honda don’t seem to consider the bike that ABR tested to be very capable off road the ABR tester seemed to think it is , which I thought interesting as so many bikes are claimed to be good adventure bikes and don’t live up to expectations !!

I think the 800 is called the “Crossrunner” and the 1200 “Crosstourer”. The wheels seem to show the true potential of the two. The 800 has cast wheel which look to be 17′ front and rear while the 1200 gets spokes and looks like a 19′ front.

Certainly two interesting bikes although I much prefer the styling of the 1200. I do love the sound of Honda’s V4’s. With a good pipe they are definately the V8 of the bike world.

Ah VFR with a 4 into 1 is there a better sound … I think not. No v twin could compete

They are going to be an awesome road bike with a bit of off road capability but I don’t see it been anywhere near as good as a GS1200 in the dirt.
Also I agree on the sound, if we get a demo one of these it’s getting a slip on ASAP!
