1 – Carry a little sachet of mcdonalds pepper – perfect for radiator repairs on the go

    This needs further explanation. Pepper?

    Axel,

I saw Mal 5.1 use pepper in his radiator at last years Xmas ride on the Saturday morning. He had a small leak :( Mal let the radiator cool a bit took the cap off and poured in a couple of sachets. Started engine and after a bit presto no leak ;) Lasted the rest of the day. :)

I don’t know how it works just that it does

i read you store your washed out empty camel back bladder in the freezer it stops ecoli from breeding/ growing.

and the odd glass of water ever so often between beverages at the circle of knowledge/ bench racing lessens the throbbing the next day:whistle:

blow the bladder out with compressed air and hang in sunlight for a bit works for me, salt wash as well is a good thing.

WTF have you been doing with your camelbak Mr Transit, E Coli are found in the lower intestine and can only survive for short periods outside a warm blooded mammal…

On second thoughts please Do NOT tell us……

I use home brand anti-bacterial solution in my camelback.
It only cost a couple of dollars in the baby section of applies and is normally used for sterilizing baby bottles.
Fine steel wool from Bunnings with plenty of detergent keeps the plastics looking good.

Just thought I would add to Ollies statement. Grease your linkage bearings before they rust and sieze. And when cleaning linkage bearings with compressed air and solvent the pressure can blow apart the nylon bearing casings. So you need to buy new ones.  So be careful.

    hey Arron, you forgot…

dont leave rags in your airbox after cleaning…

they can make your bike impossible to start

I never did such a thing ???!!!! Menace   Hey this is a tip I learned from Buzz. Put Milton or the no frills version( the stuff you sterilize babies bottles with) into your Camel back. It will kill all the bacteria including the ecol i you got in there when you did not wash your hands after well you know. Rinse it out in clean water to take the taste out and its good to go!

Next time you are at KFC grab a handfull of the little refresher wipes. They take up no space in you hydration pack and are perfect for a clean up after a trailside repair or for a Pommie bath if you are camping.

Clean your camel back out with bleach and then rinse and dry it out or freeze. Bleach is great for keeping your home brew set up sterilised as well.

Put baby powder inside your tyres to prevent pinch flats.

If you get a front flat tyre, pull the tyre off one side while it is still on the bike. Find hole and patch and put tyre back on and blow it up. Saves heaps of time.

Stick a spanner between the rear sprocket and chain, spin the wheel till the chain pulls tight on the adjusters and tighten the axle. You know the axle is 100% against the adjusters then.

Never be a tight arse when buying flowers to get out of the dog house.

Spud mentioned this in an ADV thread but it also belongs here.
Pool skimmer filters from hardware stores can be used as air filter skins at a fraction of the cost.

If riding multiple days and your boots get wet , put your foot in a plastic bag before putting it into your wet boot. This saved my feet on last years very wet Cameron Corner ride ;)

This is how I keep excess chain lube off my rear wheel.

Drill hole through rear chain guard

Spray lube through hole directly onto chain.

    P1010025.jpg

This way no mess and use less lube and all the lube goes directly onto the inside of the chain.
