    Hi all…

I’m an entering the mid forties stage of life Sepo who’s transplanted about 10 years ago… I just got back into the dirt about 3 or so years ago.. I’ve spent most of this time riding on a mates property up at Aarons Pass re-acquainting myself.. Have also made the rounds at some of the bike parks close to Sydney..

Started on an XR400 for about 8 or so months. I decided I wanted a button start and then went to a WR250 bored out with an Athena 290 and all kitted up.. After a year or so I decided I missed the old tractor and the WR always felt it had to much power for her weight and performed wild like a Bronco.. Best with a young bloke who has no fear and bigger balls than me.. Last year I went back to an XR400.. I found it the best all rounder for me and what I’m capable of. Plus maintenance and up keep is easy peasy.

Just completed a slight money dump on the old girl.. Rebuilt complete suspension front and back, sprung for my weight, new gold valves etc, new sprockets chain, new front and rear tires Dunlop D952’s, Valves adjusted, auto decomp removed, carby clean up and got rid of the white plastics(96) and put the Honda Red ones on.

I’m still trying to dial the suspension in but I’m pretty happy. She is my first registered bike and I went and got my ticket so I could ride all these really cool places I’ve heard and read about. I found this place by an obscure google search looking for a track between kandos and capertee (train line) as I seen it on google earth.. I found myself reading the zig-zag to capertee feb 2010 in the rain thread.. Great read.. that lead to the kick ass run the guys do from zig zag to hill end/safala threads.

I hope join some like minded on some rides.. Fairly easy to get a pass out from the misses..

    Nice intro c-e-l

Welcome to what is an incredible resource not only for the rides it offers but for the crew that lives in this portal.
Good bunch of guys whose collective trail knowledge and bike sense more than makes up for their complete lack of common sense

Enjoy the site mate and I look forward to sharing some Aussie singletrack with you one day.

What the hell is going on here!! XRs are taking over the site.

Welcome c-e-l. Sounds like you have the XR all sorted. You’ll enjoy a good laugh and great rides on here.

Mick have you been sending out secret messages for XR owners to come and join?

I didn’t think there was this many XRs left in the country.

g’day C-E-L glad to make your virtual acquaintaince as it were, do you XR riders have a secret handshake and a nod and a wink or what?

Must be enough of you to have an international society by now.

    Bruce.

Thanks for the welcome everyone.. Thought I might get to meet you all on the Safala run but I think I will sit this one out and maybe explore a bit first and build up the gear and equipment requirements for these sort of rides.. I’m most interested in learning a grade 3 route from zig-zag to capertee.. I’ve only ridden public land once so far and it was a buzz kill as the fun police kicked us out.. Apparently Appin is off limits now, Mountain bikers and locals got their way..

    Gday Cel
man…your little story sounds just like me :) ..i started about 11 months ago on a xr 400 then moved onto a wr 250.Xr was an awesome bike but i needed an electric leg as i was spending way too much time on the side of mountains trying to kick start the flooded bastard…as i tend to fall off my bike alot…just ask any one,i am the most crash fit old bull on the site :P ..I even managed to snap the frame on the xr in a pony express race
Still on the wr 250 and loving it,but i have secret pangs for the balls that the xr has(that doesn’t sound quite right   ).
Anyways…enough of my ramblings….enjoy the site an welcome to OBT ;)

    Bol :woohoo:

Could be worse, he could ride(push)a KTM like alot of you lot. Welcome to the site M8. Most important thing to remember when going on a Old Bull ride is to wear protection, depending on who goes on the ride determines how much protection you need.
