Just after people opinions on how young is to young for a kid to start riding. I ask because the other week i brought my young bloke (3 1/2 Years old) a 50cc quad which had a remote controlled shut off and can be governed down to a crawl. It also has a pull strap on the back which also cuts the motor out.
I understand from reading that kids up to around 7 years old cant do more than one thing at a time eg brake and change down gears at the same time.

    Opinions ?????????

Note he hasnt riden it yet.

G’Day mate… OWL 02’s boy got on a Quad at 4 was riding a bicycle at 3.. He is 7 now and on a 80cc bike.. I believe Christmas Santa is providing a Clutch.. ;)

Some have a natural talent.. I say all you can do is try, if they are not able and/or not interested I think you will know pretty quickly.. I tred with my daughter at 4.5 she was more interested in telling everyone she owned a quad..

i think it depends on the kid just see how they go but don t push them into it. i have bribed my kids and told them to learn how to ride a push bike than they can have a go on the pw 50 .funny how fast the trainin wheels came of.the eldest bloke is not real keen on bikes but can ride (11 and rides my 530).the second you can not get of the jr80 but just pokes around .the other two ride the pw 50 and want to go again next weekend aged 5 and 6 and a half .none of them are racers but

When they can ride a tredley without training wheels give the kid a throttle. My young bloke was just under 3. Started off on a 20 year old JR 50 and the bike is still going strong. He is now 12 and has a 140cc thumpers and loves it.

My boy hoons around our paddock on his JR50 with training wheels. He’s only real little so the trainers have to stay on for a while yet. He got it just after his 3rd birthday. Obviously it’s restricted, however I’ve clocked him at 37km/h across the paddock! ;). He’s come off a few times but he just shakes it off. He loves it. Got all the protective gear but, he knows the rules!!!!!!!!!!
