AnonymousWell, let it be said I am interested in one. Dunno if I would like a 450 or 570…
Don’t ask me why, I just had a look at one in the flesh the other day and couldn’t stop smiling..
My next question is .. Who has one and tell me all about it?February 6, 2009 at 6:54 am #121014
AnonymousI have been scouting these things since I first saw a picture in the middle of last year. They look the horn in the flesh!
All reports I’ve heard so far have been good with the emphasis on excellent handling for a 450. I’d buy one now if I had the cash lying around.
They use 70% of the parts that the latest KTM’s use so getting hold of parts won’t be an issue and as far as I’m concerned the engine is tried technology. I haven’t heard any issues with the FI either.
Unless something very special comes along it WILL be my next bike. Newcastle KTM have one if you didn’t know

AnonymousI looked at a 450 and 570 the other day in the flesh.. I started to get a watery mouth.. (Not the sick watery mouth but a salivating one:cheer:)

AnonymousI was sat on the 450 demo bike they have in Newcastle KTM thinking about putting it on my credit card! Seriously
Even the air filter and tank placement is an improvement over all other bikes. I’m surprised you are keen though, had enough of the Gas Gas or just very impressed by the Husaberg like me?
I was offered a ride and had to turn it down otherwise it would be all over! I’d be selling all my stuff on eBay!

The Gasser is a great bike and does everything well, except for 100km’s on a single tank unless you put the larger tank on it.. I like the bike in it’s slim form to ride.. Although the larger tank is really not that much wider it’s just not as slim
Also I just can’t help myself:woohoo:
I may never get the Berg, but I have my eyes open because the Gasser is coming onto it’s 3rd birthday and I am considering a roll over to a newer bike.. The new Gasser isn’t much different from mine (I have ridden the 09 model)So that’s the reason to look at something new..

AnonymousSounds like you have a good enough excuse to go do it then:P I’ve only had my bike since July and haven’t really ridden it since the beginning of December so it’s hard to justify losing all the pennies for a bike I’ve ridden a few thousand K’s on.
When I get to your position though the Husaberg is top of the pile. Plus it’s different, which I like. Just not in a VOR530 way (which I also like)
February 6, 2009 at 8:46 am #121039At least its not a 2T!!
…but there are rumours of a new XR250R… Fuel injected, liquid cooled, based on the CRF450R chassis… That’s sounding pretty good to me, as long as the valve issues of the CRF don’t follow through.
Plus, hussy’s are not family friendly!

Hey Ecks WTF:unsure: 2 strokes are awsome bikes, for the riding that I mainly do,ie single trail and hilly shitty log infested stuff,I wouldnt have anything but a 2 stroke, For a ride like Hillend yeah go the 4 stroke,(champo you must of been feeling it at the end mate:laugh: )But the sheer power to weight, snap of the throttle and simple get it done attitude you cant beat em;) just my opinion
ollie
February 8, 2009 at 9:55 am #121015My brothr In-law owns a 501 hooserberg..it’s getting fixed more than ridden
A real shame because it’s a well balanced bike, heaps of Punt, and decent fuel economy . Just doesnt spend much time running which sucks ’cause we dont get out riding as much as we could. Hope the newbies have the reliability issues sorted?

Ollie, Ollie, Ollie!
Can’t believe you rose to that little bait! Man, that was ridiculous! Just having a dig at JRD – we grew up together.
That, and he test rode a Gasser 300 a little while back. I bet he’s still getting over the vibrations!Actually, 2T’s, although not my cup of tea, are good bikes in the right hands (ie not mine) and on the right rides. Champo’s TM, once geared up, was actually better on the Hill End ride than the WR which wasn’t geared up.
Besides, you’d better get used to me having a dig at 2T’s because I ain’t gonna stop anytime soon!
I still say that hussy’s aren’t family friendly!

Over the last couple of years since KTM have owned Husaberg I think their reliability issues have dropped significantlt. Also the new Husaberg’s are made from 70% KTM parts, so it’s pretty much a modified KTM with an fuel injected angled engine (as far as parts go)

Much better than the kneed engines that preceded them, or the hipped ones before that!
Actually moto’s spot on from what I hear, the new Hussy’s are basically a mish-mash of KTM bits and bobs screwed together with tech screws and chewing gum or something like that! Possibly they even use bolts, but don’t quote me!

DOH!!
I see the new Husaberg as a revised KTM really. It’s like they took all the good KTM bits added fuel injection and changed the layout of the airbox and released it as a Husaberg. Will the 2010 KTM’s follow? I don’t reckon they will……
