Don’t ask me why, I just had a look at one in the flesh the other day and couldn’t stop smiling..
My next question is .. Who has one and tell me all about it?Visited a friend in Brisbane last week and went to look at his toys in shed and one of his employees Husa 570 was there as well. Must admit it was a sexy looking machine but couldn’t tell you what he thinks about it. We have organised to try and get a ride together happening sometime in future but you will probably well and truly have decided whether to get one or not by that time:laugh:

Quote:I see the new Husaberg as a revised KTM really. It’s like they took all the good KTM bits added fuel injection and changed the layout of the airbox and released it as a Husaberg. Will the 2010 KTM’s follow? I don’t reckon they will……KTM good bit’s, Husaberg must have looked long and hard to find any good bit’s. Did they keep the PDS, Ive heard this is some of KTM’s best work.

Ollie, Ollie, Ollie!
Can’t believe you rose to that little bait! Man, that was ridiculous! Just having a dig at JRD – we grew up together.
That, and he test rode a Gasser 300 a little while back. I bet he’s still getting over the vibrations!Actually, 2T’s, although not my cup of tea, are good bikes in the right hands (ie not mine) and on the right rides. Champo’s TM, once geared up, was actually better on the Hill End ride than the WR which wasn’t geared up.
Besides, you’d better get used to me having a dig at 2T’s because I ain’t gonna stop anytime soon!
I still say that hussy’s aren’t family friendly!
Bastard- got me Hook line and sinker:laugh: (I love my 2 strokes)

Aha the missing linkage will be revealed
seriously the Husaberg is a good bike from all reports, but I would never buy a first generation design, personally the secod or third are a much better bet, but if everyone thought this way we’d all be riding hardtails with pushrods.
As for riding a smoker depends on the rider, recently while on a tar transport section a very very good rider on a 525 could not keep me in his sights through a set of twisties, which reinforced 10% bike, 90% rider.
mr Blue
smoking since 1969

AnonymousI saw you online Bruce and knew you’d reply to this thread mentioning PDS
I genberally agree that a first generation bike is liekly to have issues. However, as mentioned before, I would have bought one of the Husabergs because as far as technology goes the only real change is the FI. Sure the engine is angled, it’s still a KTM engine though. Also, being FI, any mapping issues can easily be programmed out at a local dealer.
The fact that people haven’t reported any major issues so far also instills confidence in Husaberg for me. So very tempted to go get one

I was really impressed with the tm 2t. I was a bit worried about taking it on such a long ride with so many roady sections. I would have rode racytracy’s ttr230 but I only had 2 airfilters and no filter skins for it.
In practice. It was heaps of fun. I kept and eye on the temperature (sticker on top of the radiator). It ran at normal operating temp all day no matter what. Even holding in band for long periods along the back roads (I won’t reveal here what speeds I was doing) the bike ran sweet. No hint of any discomfort coming from the engine
What was a little annoying, was the suspension and grip. My tm’s suspension is set up for attacking terrain at silly speeds. With me trying not to kick up dust and ride as placid as possible, I found that the suspension was confused hitting objects at such low speeds.
Note: tm Australia has since ‘trail biked’ their later models. So they should handle these rides better.i felt fine all weekend. towards the end, realising that i still had a lot of energy, i started to get up it. the suspension liked this, tyres were ‘what the? we are spent’. i pushed a little too hard and got my first flat in many years when i hit a hidden a sharp rock.
I am very happy with the tm and would not hesitate to take it on such rides. (I’ll put back on the 14 tooth sprocket first)
It is no xr600/650 or kato 530 but I feel I have no reason to change to one.
Ps: if I did buy a 4t. it would be a berg
Regarding the hot running wr250. I am curious that bmw gs1200 riders ride all day with their feet behind (sometimes on) the cylinders on hot days. Must be a rpm thing

AnonymousThe fuel injection is Japanese. I don’t see a worry with it.. Only reports I have heard have been the front guard breaks easily, but I think it may be just the Americans who have the problem because they run a number plate up front and no light with the supportive bracket.
So far there’s no smoke from the Husaberg camp suggesting there is a worry with them. I guess the years already used in developing this bike have worked in their favour for the machines reliability.. Still I would like to hear from owners that have one and how it going..
eg. How many km’s do they have on it?
Any minor fixes for any niggling problems ?February 8, 2009 at 11:58 pm #121558
AnonymousI don’t think asnyone on here has one mate, I’m sure you’ll get some feedback in your DBW thread though. I know 5 or so guys have them on there

They at least don’t have a biased opinion because they own one
+ someone could have come across something on the net I didn’t see and have something to add..February 9, 2009 at 12:12 am #121565
AnonymousVery true
February 10, 2009 at 12:42 pm #121570I have a mate who got his 570 the day before xmas. He brought it up for a ride between xmas and new years to put some kms on it. I rode it around the paddock on a grass track I mowed for his kids and certainly has some power. To much for me (and him I suspect). The fuel injection is crisp and power is right there off the throttle. For me it still feels like a Berg, pegs feel close to the bars and it still feels a bit wide at the front but not as wide as the old model. The steering is a lot like the KTM, very quick and light. Every KTM i’ve riden has head shake (04, 06, 07 all 525) and that scares me. I didn’t get berg to any speed for this to happen but I’ll see him on the weekend and ask for another ride (fingers crossed).
We took him to Capertee on some of the tracks you guys used for the Hill End ride and this guy hasn’t riden for about twelve months and he was hunting me down on some of the rocky stuff so the suspension seems to be up for the task. I do beleive he will fall off the back of this bike soon as he seems to have a digital throttle hand, ON or OFF and the front just stands up HIGH every time.
The map ‘switch’ is crap. You can’t change while riding (like you can on the Sherco). You have to stop lift a cover off this tiny little dial then know which number to set it to. It works on resistance so we can’t set up a three position switch. We will be looking at this on the weekend to see if can make a better system.Cheers
Mal.
Anyway I’ll post more if I get another ride. OH and yeh it’s a great looking bike. -
