I’d still but one. I see the warranty on any dirt bike a bonus not a selling point and at the end of the day although it should not have taken so long they covered it.
I still think the Huskys are the hottest looking bikes on the market. I have a mental image of me and a 310TE at one with nature.
October 23, 2009 at 8:49 am #157094IMHO, a waranty is only as good the dealer/shop you get the bike from. My Husky is just past the 2yrs of ownership, happily, i havent needed to call on it. where i am in qld, the husky dealers are going away like an ald mans hair? whats the go with that? As for the warranty thing, as Ollie once pointed out to me, they’re an expensive thing in themselves. If you have the dealer doing all those services, it isnt long before your bike costs an couple of thou. I cant say if its the same for all or not as i havent bought too many bikes brand new to be able to compare..mores the pity lol

AnonymousSorry to hear of your continuing woes Mal, I hope you get your bike back ASAP, your patience has been exceptional even with another bike to ride.
I like the Husky and would consider one under the right circumstances. I ended up sticking with the Kato as I couldn’t get a local test ride on a Husky and they don’t have electric start which was a big bonus for me.
Like others have said, I wouldn’t buy a bike for it’s warranty, I’d consider a longer warranty a bonus.

November 4, 2009 at 6:11 am #157096I had a similar bad warranty claim with a 2006 Husaberg, after waiting 6 weeks and hearing every excuse under the sun I spoke to The Fair trading department who had some good advice, so armed with this info I bypassed the dealer and basically threatened Husaberg Australia with further action and guess what, had the bike fixed and back to me within 2 weeks
All I can suggest is to be patient at first but the dealers and companys have obligations they have to adhear to, so don’t be afraid to take further action if you think you are being unfairly treated.November 4, 2009 at 10:56 pm #159465

:silly:November 5, 2009 at 12:30 am #157140MY XR400 HAS ONLY DONE 11000KS BUT I DID GET A TOP END REBUILD ABOUT 5000KS AGO.EVERY TIME I READ ABOUT BLOKES HAVING TROUBLE WITH THERE NEW BIKES IT MAKES ME WONDER WHY? NEW BIKES SHOULD BE RIDDEN AND NOT IN THE SHOP!I THINK ALL BRANDS OF BIKES HAVE SOME SORT OF ISSUE BUT WHEN YOU SPEND YOUR HARD EARN DOLLARS ON A NEW TOY YOU WOULD EXPECT SOME AFTER SALE SERVICE FROM THE DEALER!!!
November 5, 2009 at 12:33 am #159556Hey XRTrailhack.
Are you yelling or is your caps lock on by accident??
November 5, 2009 at 12:39 am #159557Couple of things to keep in mind xr. Firstly the XR is a tractor and it is tuned to run and run well within its potential. Most new bikes are tuned quite a bit harder and run with less margin for forgiveness or poor maintenance.
And most importantly, you generally only read the bad stories. Countless blokes are out there riding the same bikes without any problems but they generally don’t come on here and post up about it unless its a milestone.
FWIW I just read a brief report on the bergs this morning which was written by a UK guy that hires them out. If anyone is interested I can paste it here but in general terms it was quite a brief but glowing report.

AnonymousPost it in a new thread if you want AB, unless it’s relational somehow to Husky warranty service
I’d be interested to see it.
You also make some good points AB. the other thing to remember is that there are more of certain bikes in the bush than others so this sometimes can’t weight the amount of problems posted for a given bike.
Not that I want to start a bike war (so I will avoid using Honda as an example) but how many KLX450R’s do you see on an average ride compared to KTM’s for example? You would expect that more people moan about issues with KTM’s as there are lots more people riding them.
That said, I also agree with XRTRAILHACK, if you spend your hard earned money on a new bike the last thing you want is for it to break with minimal use.
If my starter issue was more serious I would be right up the dealer to get it sorted and some!
