is there much talk about the 510’s on the like of Thumper Talk??

the clutch cable whanny could have been pinched under the tank??

my 640 was in for the 1000km service. i got 1/2 way home and broke the cable, it’d been pinched under the tank.

i didn’t pick it was a little tighter to pull until the shop said it could have been pinched when the tank was put back on.

then it dawned on me it was harder to pull:blush:

with the flat battery, did you try push starting it?

the bigend( especially in the 510) was a common problem in those early ones mine being a 2005, boony if it was 2007 i would have bought another 510 but its not and thats why i went the ktm 300 when i bought my next bike .another problem i have noticed on quite a few occasions on different rides is that when they start getting hot and back firing they blow the intake manifold off the throttle body as well

honestly Whanny i just couldnt bring myself to buy another husky when iwas looking for another bike , i dont really have a brand following ( apart from holden but thats another argument) if it ticks all the boxes for me i will buy it and the KTM 300 ticked all the boxes and so far is an excellent bike im just giving my personel opinion

It wasn’t real easy to start at my birthday ride from memory. (Insert noise of a starter motor winding over for 5 minutes here) Then insert, Mick yelling “use the F##ken kickstarter”

Then insert “vroom vroom” noise of a Husky starting after one kick.

When you kick start a bike you spin the engine faster than the starter does that’s why you see them start first kick after someones cranks and cranks with the starter in the morning ;)

Oh the joys of growing old.

Funny how I only remember good times but that jog of my selected memory is true.
Some old bulls should not get involved in witty forum decussions (me).
I meant the start ritual u guys go through once the xr is at operating temperture.
That from anothers view point was to find Top dead center and kick  thats the tough word for me,  kick a bike over, it’s for young blokes or young at heart.
see digging in deeper.  :cheer:

    6500 k’s on my 2008 model,
gotta keep the battery fresh, a charger is a good investment,
still running the original fuel pump,
replaced the fuel pump relay with aftermarket job from auto lecky mate,

fork seals leak if you pull the front down when trailering, i use the wheel brace type. bleed air all the time

    i’m big so bigger springs

the rear brake line rubs through cases, a bit of conveyor belt fixes problem,
fuse holder shake the crap out of fuses, they crack and cause issues, so carry spares
connector behind headlight needs cleaning regularly , corrotion upsets the ecu,

its never let me down on the trail, but it has chucked a wobbly in camp once or twice.

can be a bit stally in tight stuff, the infamous Husq flame out, even the carby model do it, you learn to ride around it,

    great brakes, great light clutch
great engine, the fitter you are the better it goes, can be really chucked around.

i;m happy with it , but i’m not likely to buy another dirt bike (age shall not weary them, but it makes them ache a lot)
