no the tank isnt a prop to ride with, but i dropped mine a few times and it cracked on one recent ride (thank f@ck for a roll of need it) they form them to mimic the shrouds, if i had my time again i’d try to fit an extra few ltrs in the original by scavenging a f@cked one and get a plastic welder to add to the top side of the original tank, having searched high and low i cant see any other options, thats in part why i’d next go a ktm of even a bloody generic yammy, heaps of after mkt bit avail for both models, or even shoehorn my oh so lovely motor into a ktm frame if time permitted. (dreaming a bit here)V man
Have u been for another ride since milton, and have u changed tanks or had one modified.MG
July 2, 2009 at 11:40 am #142157Thanks vman. I now an even bigger delema, the boss has told me that if I like the sherco then i should keep it and buy another bike. I could have the sherco setup for motard and something else for the bush. She must love me heaps.
So now I have being looking at two strokes. Mainly cause I have never owned one. I like the look and price of the husys, but (menace will like this) the KTM seem to be the best all round package. I have a mates KTM250 2 stroke in the shed that I have been riding the last couple of days. Nice bike, lots of fun and light. But the boss and I were standing in the shed last night and we both said it’s a KTM and doesn’t seem to fit here. I think the 300s have a bit more torque but I’m yet to ride one. The local TM dealer is trying to get the demo models up for test ride. There’s no hurry so I’ll keep cruising. If I was to go another 4 stroke it would probably be the 450 Husky.

Thanks for the info. Frank Pons told me the same thing. He said most bikes need the suspension setup for the rider so just bring whatever I buy to him and he’ll sort it for me.July 3, 2009 at 1:41 am #142172Stop messing around and get the orange one MalB) Then I can have a test ride on yours:laugh:
Cheers:cheer:

yep siree, went to the bay on the w/end,
i had to stick the standard tank on as im yet to fit a new one, i seem to be getting better mileage out of my bike now ive lowered the geraing, so il stick with it until i come up with an idea on how to modify that broken IMS tankAugust 9, 2009 at 10:54 am #142731it’s been a month since the last post so i’m not sure if a 510 is in the garage or still a plan, but i’d like to add that i have a 07 TE450 that has been pretty good. the 50mm forks are the only real weakness, because of the diameter there’s not enough seal tension to keep muck out, mine needed new seals and chrome! not impressed!!! i’ve been using seal savers since with no worries at all. no vibe problems with mine, it’s a carb model if that matters but it’s awesome to ride, plenty fast and it has a lot more turn than a mates ktm, that seems to understeer everywhere in comparison. really easy to maintain, and yes, it’s a competition bike so it needs more love than say a DRZ but it’s a pleasure it’s so easy. don’t know if seat height is an issue, i’m 5’3″ and had mine lowered 40mm and it’s still tall, but i don’t ride other bikes often for comparison, except said ktm and a KX250 that is just stupid.

August 9, 2009 at 11:09 am #147639Thanks loony. I just purchased a Husky WR300. I rode a 510 and thought it felt a lot heavier to turn than the Sherco I have now. Then jumped on the 300 and thought I gota get one of these. I rode the KTM300 and KTM250. They were ok but still had KTM on them. I’m about to write a ride impression on this thread.

August 10, 2009 at 10:25 am #147777I got the mail today and in it was a deal from Powersport Central for the new HUsky 4T’s.
450 for 12G…
Wife said “NO!”
I’d even seriously look at a little 2T but I’m a deadset lazy rider and probably more suited to something with engine braking:laugh:
