Hi there, hoping someone could give me some tech help. Just bought a new Husky TE610 o8′ and I am a little disappointed with power output especially up top. Being EFI I’ve heard just sticking an aftermarket pipe on can’t be done. Anyone got any ideas on how I can get more top speed out of thr big girl as 132kph max is , well just piss poor:( … Any ideas would be appreciated….
December 26, 2008 at 9:41 pm #115899What gearing are you running and how many KM’s are on the big girl
December 27, 2008 at 7:16 am #115900Hi, Curlyman, I own an 07 610, it’s standard gearing was 14-45, I believe your should be same. However, for a better Idea of what the 08’s are about, i can only recomend you peruse the cafehusky.com this site is pretty much the GO for ALL things Husky..Tech and otherwise. It’s a yank site but the info is unbelievable. ps. i run 159kph W.T.O. Unless your gearing is wrong, ???mine is ablast..but in no way a full race bike. very much touring and great on dirt.
December 27, 2008 at 11:33 am #115933Ps Curlyman.check the footpeg mounts on your bike..sometimes they have a touch of weld or slag to upset the mating surfaces, file/grind them flat..or you could experience the snapped footpeg syndrome..snapped peg/ swollen knee and ankle..if not broken. it seems to be a bugbear of Husky TE 610’s for a few years???
December 27, 2008 at 11:33 am #115953Did I say welcome to the site?..welcome mate.

December 27, 2008 at 9:32 pm #115930She’s got standard gearing at this stage which is a 45 rear and i assume a 14 up front… she’s only just ticked over 1700km’s. I’m a skinny bastard so i will go down a couple on the rear once the chain and sprockets are worn. I think it’s the catalytic converter causing the problem… not sure
December 27, 2008 at 9:36 pm #115934Thanks for the tip i will check it out… as far as i know our motors are identical with the exception of E.F.I which i thought would be a good thing…. maybe not such a good thing. My gearing is the same also and i’ve got my KTM300 for fast bush i got the big girl for more touring type riding so sounds like i made a good choice, I hope.
December 27, 2008 at 9:38 pm #115959Once again thanks for the heads up… I will check it…But i weigh , well lets say bugger all so I shouldn’t have a problem
December 27, 2008 at 10:11 pm #115976Gday curlyman my 610 does up around the 160k’s mark on standard gearing. and im 150kg i’ve put a barret pipe on dont notice much difference but sounds sweeeeeeet. and the footpegs faaaaarrrrrk i just keep bending bolts but yep im a fat barstard:blink:   but i love the big girl oh and the speedo gives me shit im on my 3rd one:( but never stops on the big rides just ticks along all day and that is all that matters;)

I hear they’re rather harsh up front? I weigh in at 110kg..Bike pullls well all the way up to 160 ish.. I still have the stock pipe. maybe they have corked it somewhere around the throttle assembley?? I had issues with my airbox, be cautious with bolt tensions for airbox. Other than that, keep an eye on rear sprocket bolts and most others too, they seem to enjoy shaking loose…Loctite city and wire retainers are good idea.

December 29, 2008 at 9:21 pm #115989Hi Tiny, I can’t just stick a pipe on because of the catalytic converter…. I should of got a carburetted model. Sounds like I,ve got to spend big on a brand new bike to get it going as good as an 06 or 07’… Not happy Jan. Going to give the dealer a serve when they get back from holidays

AnonymousCurlyman – Don’t know about Huskies but am wondering why the cat is stopping you fit an aftermarket exhaust? Is it a fitment thing?
December 31, 2008 at 12:56 am #116167I read in ADB blokes just changing the pipe made it run like crap…. I,m waiting for the bike shops to re-open as the dealer said he found a pipe that may be compatible…
