What divines a single trail? I see so many different variations or people interpretations. I am not saying anyone is right or wrong or anyone riding area is better than another I am just wondering what in your mind is a single trail?
I reckon this is tight winding only one line. Sweethttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtGI5gVXyvg&feature=related
and
Here is one called a sweet single in its description. I wondered, is it a single or an twin, maybe over a little grown but still get a 4×4 through does that mean it’s a twin trail it has a single line but two bikes could get through side by side
This is what, twin although there aren’t two lines, cant be called a fire trail can it?
or this one
or
Or this one, it seems as there is one track but its wide
Scott’s awesome backyard, it’s so the tracks I love but I ask myself is it single track. There is defiantly a single line in most of it, does that make it single track? (I cant wait for Scott’s ride) again there is a lot that two bikes could get through side by side so is it wide singles?

Does the track width have anything to do with it? Does the average speed set if it’s a single trail or not?
How about Murphsberg can you call it single trail riding as the obstacles have a few lines up / over them? Or maybe really only one?
Although there is a 4×4 here at the bottom, so does that mean it’s a twin trail

I am interested in peoples thoughts, I hear someone say single track is less the 30cms wide! Is that for the tyre or the bike because if its for the tyre well lots of tracks qualify if people all use the same line
I need a bex and a lie down

November 15, 2010 at 2:25 am #190759Hi TB, After reading all of that, can I suggest 1 x Bex, 2 x Serapax,2 x valium. Put them in a schooner, add the required amount of Bundy and Coke, skull the lot, then take a lie down.
You will be right as rain in no time.

November 15, 2010 at 2:51 am #190760Some examples of what I would determine as single trail
Bago
The cells
Comboyne
Pony express single
This should qualify as single to
This is what I would determine as a twin.
Overgrown logging trail
Single lane on a disused logging trail (still wide enough to pass at speed)
Snotty single
Disused service trail, still a challenge
Pick your own line. LOL

November 15, 2010 at 2:57 am #190761In my mind a single would be a trail that is too narrow for quads and fourbies.
Have noticed a lot of singles tend to have wider sections due to water hazards and hills. Its only natural that if the water hazard becomes too deep a bypass is needed, same problem with hill climbs. As they become impassable due to being rutted a new line opens up beside it
Personally I prefer tight snotty steep singles, there something rewarding after you get through a section without help :woohoo:
Other people prefer more open singles where you can pick up the pace :woohoo:
Thank god we are all different
The world would be a boring place if we were all the same
My 2 cents worthNovember 15, 2010 at 2:59 am #190762To Me pic 1, 2 is single, 3 is flowing single(along with most of scotts backyard)the rest would be twin

November 15, 2010 at 5:14 am #190763To me.. a single is when both sides of your barkbusters get a work out
Like the pines at nundle, cells and some of that crazy lantana vine and Golden Orb spider infested stuff that Mick an Ollie took us through over at the coast. Some of the best i have seen was on the second day of the “Dungrog ride” in the Chichester state forest…when old mate parted the ferns on the side of the road to show us his “secret” singles..they were about 6 inches wide and went for miles.
Nundle single…. :cheer:
Bol :woohoo:

November 15, 2010 at 10:10 am #190779Here are the definitions straight out of Hippopedia so you know it is right.
This is Single line. Def:An area with width to negotitae a tank through but which has developed only one line.
http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd239/micknmeld/25853_1418787708904_1208988196_1198411_4153210_n.jpg%5B/IMG%5DThis is Single trail. Def: An old fire/ logging road that is long since disused and has developed one main line. It may be posssible to still drive a vehicle down it but that would make you evil. It should be left for two wheels only.
As is this
And this my friends is Singletrack. Def: Surfers search for barrels, skiers chase powder and riders seek this. The only option is on a bike as it is completely impassable for a vehicle. Cut specifically into the bush in an area where no fire or logging road existed previously. Ridden at speed it will cause you to dissapear into the moment.
