WOW! Thanks for posting Mick. Glad to hear everything is ok now.
It’s certainly worth getting the full checkup when you get to 40 and over. I’m not 40 yet and had my full check up a couple of years ago after not feeling to well myself. Got the all clear after a few test.
See ya Friday mate.
May 29, 2012 at 9:03 am #222956Hey Mick, been reading your post and the responses you got and I’m thrilled that you’ve had the courage to share your story. What is also special is the support and love from the OldBull family.
My Dad was in his late 60’s when he was diagnosed and after the operation and radiation he was one of the lucky ones…unfortunately he wasn’t comfortable sharing his story with his sailing mates. It wasn’t until some of his mates succumbed to the same cancer that he spoke up. Unfortunately it was too late for some and the last couple of years he has gone from one funeral to another.
So I suppose blokes need to continue to share their personal challenges and know there is support out there.

May 29, 2012 at 1:29 pm #222982Hello Mick,
Good to hear all is Ok!
I agree with Jeffro, i get my PSAs checked with a regular blood test usually a couple of times a year.
As 40 was nearly 14 years ago for me i have kept up regular check ups with the doctor and advise mates that are getting older to do the same.Rebore.

As for the heart burn, I have been on tablets for them for about 4 years now and had the camera down the throat twice. Last time I went in the nurse asked me to take the underpants off, I had to tell her she needed her compass adjusted
Very pleased to hear a positive outcome for you Mick
Jeffro,
Are you sure she wasn’t just keen on you

Good to hear all is clear Mick
I went for my 40,000km check up 10,000km ago and go every 1,000 k’s
All you blokes service your bikes religously
But what’s the point if you don’t service the nut attached to the handlebars
Keep well :woohoo:

May 30, 2012 at 12:55 am #222983Great news Mick
Over 40 you should have all the checks they tell you to do , you may think its is a bit of overkill but you just dont know what you are walking around with inside. A very close call Mick.
cheers
StruckyJune 15, 2012 at 1:46 pm #223022on reading this I decided I should have a full checkup, told my doc I want the works, so this morning I have had 6 vials of blood drawn plus a urine sample, something I have been putting off for a long time, I know my cholestrol is high and I am gluten intolerant, but really just wanted to ignore it all, now turning 40 it is time to start looking after myself a bit better so back to the doc next thursday for results, guaranteed I will be on cholestrol meds and will have proof of gluten intolerance so big change in diet coming, also got script for nicco patches which I am planning to start monday, I have come to the conclusion that although I am shitting myself about the results that it’s better to know and get it sorted than to continue to ignore it. So if im walking a bit funny friday you’ll know why.
Cheers
Chris.June 15, 2012 at 3:08 pm #224264Good onya Chris.
That is the main reason I started this thread.
Good luck with it all.
June 15, 2012 at 4:32 pm #224277Good stuff Chris, better to get the checks done than to die wondering!
June 15, 2012 at 10:27 pm #222888Im due for a blood test after a work incident. Might ask the doc for a full overhaul whilst I’m there.
