Early Sunday morning saw Tamworth with frost and a bit chilly but after meeting up and heading out the Dungowan valley we realised that Tamworth was a tropical paradise compared to where we were heading. Suprisingly though when we got up to the unload area there was no wind and the sun was out making for a great start to the day. Heading into the forrest though things quicly changed and the DRZ was used out front to cut a pass throught the ice. Its weird to go through a puddle and spray others with ice cubes rather than water. The ride hit problems not far in when the electrics on the ice breaker failed twice in quick succession but in different areas of the bike. Got it fixed only for a certain KTM 250 to cough and die shortly after due to it being orange. Eventually found the pube of water in the bottom of its carby that was stopping it and we set off, only to have the lone yammy on the ride die in the arse and not want to fire up. Super Damus fixed his third bike in half an hour and we swept through the native singles and headed for our new pine singles. Theses were really sweet and when we finish the rest of the new loop it promises to be heart attack city being long and technical although nearly flat throughout. Getting back to the normal singles we discovered our newby on the yammy was about to cark it from exhaustion so we cut a few singles to give him a break but after the next short single his yammy finally died and when Damus pronounced it terminal he appeared quite happy to have to be towed back to the cars by Ranger Rick. The rest of us went on to play in the pines and rode the rest of the loop to the cars arriving just after Rick and Nick. All up a sweet day of excellent riding even if it was a bit shorter than planned. Im sure Polly has some photos to post including one of us parked in a big patch of ice and frost at around 1pm. Ride finished with a pit stop at the Dungowan pub for a debrief and planning of the next ride.

June 24, 2012 at 11:26 pm #224888Buzz organised this ride 2 weeks ago when we were out riding with the tin lids, I don’t think he realised it was gunna be the coldest day this winter so far, -4 at 8.00am.
Didn’t worry him because he didn’t even turn up for it(forgot to set the alarm,,yeah right ) , come to think about it , there were 12 blokes messaged about the ride and only 7 turned up for it, Soft C*+ks. 😆
Snowy, Damus, Rick, Ricks nephew Nick (prob won’t come back) :cheer: Hoss, Polly and myself, braved the weather , fog and freezing temps and headed for the hills of gold.
We headed out on the normal trails with plans of trying some new singles the boys had cut in a couple of weeks ago, about 1 hour into the ride the ever trusty DRZ just plain died, :pinch: turned out it was the same problem mine had over at cells, the wires running under the sub frame had rubbed through and shorted out, shortly after that the kato coughed and died , I had drained the fuel out of the tank after last ride and this meant some H2O found its way into the bowl, (Got to love a carbie bike, even I can drain a carbie)With all these issues solved and the Kato running how it should we set off into the some of the best trails around. Oh snows ice breaker had one more hiccup :pinch: and then it was good, I won’t even mention the only model not to play up was the might kwaka.
As snow says the newby (young bloke too) found keeping up with the old blokes just a little tuff and I think he sabotaged his bike so he could get away from the pain,
We had a ball the new singles are bloody awesome boysand yes there was frost on the ground at 1.45pm and some puddles where still frozen when we got back to the cars. Funny how you don’t feel the cold when you out with the boys riding yah bike and having a ball,.
The beers at the pub went down without touching the side.
Thanks to all
Especially Polly for sweeping all ride. Much appreciated mate.Till the next one,,,
