I’m replacing the idler arm on my ute but the steering arm won’t come off.
I removed the nut but it is stuck fast on the tapered section on the idler arm, is it just a case of beat the crap out of it? Im not real keen on getting under there with the oxy and trying to put some heat in it.
    Thanks for your help.

You will probably need a puller or a pitman arm remover fork and a bit of heat. Leave the nut on a couple of threads when you apply the heat. Otherwise you may wear it.

You need to shock the end where the tapered idler arm goes through. This can be done by putting ah arge hammer one side and hitting the opposite side, the hammer on the back just held against helps absorb the impact the hitting hammer distorts the end the taper in in and it pops out. Well it will when done right

Or you can duck down the super cheap and buy one of the forks he has here

    Job done :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
It took a set of pullers, the only set I had were huge and I didn’t have four sets of hands to get them in place but got it, and with a little heat it popped out. :)
All this had to be done under the ute which drove me up the wall a couple of times.
Thanks for your ideas guys. :)
