    Hi

The Illawarra escarpment region from Helensgurgh to dapto has a range of land owners from National parks to state reserves to priviate owners which are mostly coal mining companies. Mountain bike riders are high volume users and have developed single trails in the NP , state reserves and private land. Their are marked fire trails throughout . NP areas are obvoiusly not for registered dirt bikes.

Does anyone know of legal areas that can be used for rego dirt bikes in the above areas? Or does anyone know of similar areas where a land mangement approach has been taken to ensure the safety of all users to prevent for example mountain bike and trail bikes riders accidents ?

Be carefull, alot of that area is water catchment, and a no go zone, don’t get caught in there or you will have to sell your house to pay for the fines-rumor has it that there are cameras hidden in trees and stuff, be warned, enter at your own risk

If you get caught between the escarpment and the express way the fine is $300, on the other side in the catchment area the fines can go up as high as $11,000

The cameras are there to stop illegal dumping, they are motion sensing and got some pics of a few bikes but only as they were riding past so there was no chance of any fines being given.

last time i rode there it was a state forest there were plenty of 4wd’s in there if you stay out of the conservation areas and pay attention to the signs you will work out where your allowed to go pretty quick.
    it is a big area.
last time we ended up all the way out the back of the tennesse orchards farm on fire trails
but things may have changed since then this was about 5 years now.
