Sorry thread is drying up Axel been of the chain busy, I am in Brsbane ATM and am working on a bulk purchase for Garmin CSX0s. Can’t give you a 100% go ahead at the moment but should have details within a week.
As for the 62 I have one and would probably sell it if you want a second hand one about 4 rides old as I don’t like it. Will sell for sure if I can secure these 60s
Answer in a week when my life slows some what
Hope that helps

OK, I’ll hang about and see what happens then. The reviews on the 62s are as they are here – everyone prefers the 60csx range which I still can’t fathom why an older obsolete item of technology is better than something newer.
Anyway, yes I’ll be up for up for a colour 60 for sure if you know how to get them. I’m sure there are a few here that would sign up too. I’m a guaranteed purchase, money is ready to go. If the 60 falls through then yes I’ll buy your 62 as long as it’s not more than $399 haha
CheersDecember 4, 2012 at 9:12 pm #232930Righto TB, it’s a week later. Any update?

January 11, 2013 at 1:57 am #233625Not rushing or anything but the thought of nabbing a second hand one from os is tempting me.
What should I be looking at price wise for a second handy 60csx from US/UK? Is that a bad idea? What about maps, software and such are they costly (or freely obtainable)?
I’m still keen for a new one in the TB order.January 11, 2013 at 3:23 am #235312axel wrote:Not rushing or anything but the thought of nabbing a second hand one from os is tempting me.

I’m still keen for a new one in the TB order.Well an update for you Axel, firstly Rome wasnt built in a day Champ
I have some new information on using the 62s and am testing it and maybe writing a procedure to make it more user friendly for peeps that may get one (joining routes in the problem compared the a 60CSx) . I used the 62s for the full pre run and it was good. At this stage that is my recommendation if you cant get a NEW 60. Purchase from overseas is fine, load free shonky maps on on it.
Getting some Garmin Rinho 650’s (google them) to trial for the FEB nav ride with Flying Fish they are a 5watt UHF and a GPS with close enough as the same specs as the 62s. Cant report on how they work for another month or so. Will hopefully trying a Margellan 610 and 710 as well.

I’m still keen for a new one in the TB order. If you’re following a GPS line, Shonky is fine. If you’re planning and want to make it easier, Oz Topo 4 works for me. Cost about $200
This ‘track’ was planned in Shonky :pinch:
Oz Topo eliminates the need to look at Google maps as often when planning

I know where that is now
Sorry Axel, I agree with Lotsa about OZ Topo or Garmin Aus etc Knowing you are a thrifty bugger I didn’t suggest it    Will you be plotting on your computer or just reviewing where you have been and finding the road out when it gets to hot
Don’t discount Shonky as a free option but does most people

January 11, 2013 at 9:43 am #235343Thanks lads. I can tell you I use computers all day but after 20 years of technology I f’n hate it all.
I’ll be using my GPS so I can find the start of loops I go on or cut in and as you said TB, so I can get back to the car when required.
I have no interest in advanced features or spending more than 5min on the computer, especially not after 4pm weekdays.January 11, 2013 at 11:54 am #235354axel wrote:Thanks lads. I can tell you I use computers all day but after 20 years of technology I f’n hate it all.

January 12, 2013 at 9:28 am #231799My company sell GPS and I can buy direct.
The issue is that we have no where near the buying power of someone like JB Hi Fi. So at times they have them cheaper than we can buy them direct.
That said, I am happy to get prices if there was enough interest. I am using a GPS 60 which is workman like but by no means clever. The later models have much better visuals for a start.
One of the engineers at work is all over how to be all tricky and access maps and free beer etc.
If there was a common theme, I would try to help.
