Cheers James
January 12, 2013 at 9:45 am #235483I have a mate also in need of something. I will have the sales guys chase up a price list this week and let you know.

That said, I am happy to get prices if there was enough interest. I am using a GPS 60 which is workman like but by no means clever. The later models have much better visuals for a start.
One of the engineers at work is all over how to be all tricky and access maps and free beer etc.
If there was a common theme, I would try to help.
I have a 60csx and like free beer
Tell me more ianb:)
January 14, 2013 at 11:21 am #235489After doing a little research today into which GPS to get purely on a priceline basis,as I could not be #$%^&ed trying to begin to understand which one does what, so on and so forth,my brain hurts   I came across a couple of prices.
At Dick Smiths they advertise the Rino650 for 599.00,but Jonny Appleseed are saying you can get 2xRino 650s for 649.00 package deal.
My question is, are they crap and jonny appleseed are trying too offload them,or is this a good deal,my logic was if I have two and break or loose one.Jonny also had the Montana 650t for 649.00 which was about the cheapest I could find them for/didnt look too hard.
I just want to get a good one first off and end this technological shopping nightmare :pinch:
Being as both deals from Jonnys are the same price is the Montana twice the unit
Thanks for your thoughts James
January 14, 2013 at 11:04 pm #235571I wish I could help but I have never had one before. I’m going off suggestions really. Once I have one in my hands I’m sure I’ll learn it and have more of an opinion.
January 14, 2013 at 11:47 pm #235585Thanks anyway axel,
My problem is I was born 200 years too late, all this technology has my head spinning  :laugh:Fear, ignorance and a large serving of laziness on my part are turning what should be an exciting purchase into a chore
January 15, 2013 at 11:31 pm #231800I just got a Mellagen 510, bought the chip for it to download maps etc. and if I want the street maps I have to shell out another $99 cold hard $$$.
Used it on the weekend and it dose show the name of roads etc but I had the refer to a map to work out which road I wanted to be on.
A bit hard at times but I will work it out

January 15, 2013 at 11:55 pm #235601Is there a particular reason you are looking at the Rhino 650? I don’t know anything about them other than it is a GPS and uhf radio in one unit which accounts for the higher cost I suppose. Does it come with all the maps and software for making tracks and routes on your computer to then upload onto the device?
If you are going purely on price then they look to be at the higher end of the scale. You can get a Garmin 62S for $445 at JA. I have the 60csx which is the earlier version and it is pretty easy to use and a good hardy unit.

No price isn’t the reason if you read my post you would see the rinho has the same GPS specs as the 62s the UHF will be a bonus for another project
62s are heaps cheaper than 445 as well mate if you look around. I am sitting in a little pub in perthville at the moment pre running with a 60csx and a 62s and the 60 is heaps easier and user friendly
More later.

Thanks for the headsup.Cheers James
January 21, 2013 at 5:04 am #235808Reckon for your Tenere you should get a Garmin Zumo 220 from the same place James. On a big adventure bike its the go in my opinion, can be like a car GPS take you to a POI, or city or address. Also load a route suitable for the nav ride.
The 62s mention really doesnt do the car style nav
Also good price there on the Zumo 220
