Righto, if I import a pair of XR500 cases from the U.S. to replace my damaged ones will I run into future Rego issues with the RTA in NSW? As in using the imported case with the engine number instead of the old engine number.

Probably be the same like when you do a engine swap on the car get it partial blueslip for ID change they check it out write down new numbers and then you lodge it with the RTA

Go have a chat with your local RMS (RTA no longer) officer. they will give you the forms you need.

This is just for laughs hopefully. As the penalties for this are very heavy if one was to get caught. Rebirthing and such. Very bad. Not worth it.
