Hey Gang,
As a newbie to the area, just wanting some help with directions and parking for a short ride to try out the bikes.
I used to bush ride years ago, but its been ages, and my 16yr old son really hasn’t ridden at all, so I’d regard us both as being Grade 1 riders. Given this, I was hoping someone maybe able to give me a google map link or other directions for a grade 1 loop track near Mt Sugarloaf. Somewhere we can park the trailer in safety, go for a quick blat and return.
Many thanks gang,
Cheers

December 2, 2011 at 1:23 pm #212529Hey Squizz,,,
Look on Google Maps , type in Buchanan NSW then zoom in till you see Echidna Dve (its near the ORICA PLANT on George Booth Dve). You will see an oval shaped track carved in on the right side of George Booth, that is the track where a lot of locals take their kids to learn (there is supposed to be a membership fee you can pay I think to Kurri MC Club or something, but it is hard to find out info, maybe ask someone there if you see anyone)
Otherwise, there is another track carved in on the opposite side of the road you can see on Google too (its on the Power ine track mate)There is also Sugarloaf Range Rd just shy of the peak of Sugarloaf (if you have rego and son is licenced etc) If not the oval track area is the go to not worry about Mr Plod as you call him
Enjoy
December 2, 2011 at 1:26 pm #212530I forgot, there are some enduro type trails running around the oval track at Bucahanan too, they were a bit tight & rocky for a grade 1 rider last time I rode them though (that was at least 2 years ago)
They may be alright now, could be worse too though :laugh:Enjoy

December 2, 2011 at 6:17 pm #212550Yeh Think I’ve found it, thanks again Eagle.
While on George Booth Dve, it looks like you turn off to the right about half a kay or so before Echidna Dve on the left, does that sound about right?
December 2, 2011 at 6:37 pm #212532Yeah, But it`s only a narrow dirt road that follows an ols railway line then veers off right thru the trees and a gate from memory
Be careful of traffic when pulling up or turning across the road (they tend to fly along George Booth a bit) as there is no turning lane ,,,,,,,,If I get time after tomorows Toy Run ride, I might run out there and double check for ya
December 2, 2011 at 7:01 pm #212533For much better imagery, log into http://www.nearmap.com, create a free account and the satellite images are much more up to date and you can zoom in so much closer (I can see the ruts & tyre walls on the track etc etc)
LAtest image was taken September this yearThis can be handy for a lot of areas when trip planning etc

December 3, 2011 at 4:25 pm #212534Look for gate J3 which is 5.5k from Seahampton Rural Fire Station, the dirt track at the end of the armco railing is the one you want to take. There were only some dudes with their families on quads there today and damn was it dusty
I had a squizz on the way home from the Toy Run
December 3, 2011 at 5:04 pm #212632Bet there is no dust now, Eags.
Cheers
