i found this excerpt from a research study they did down here on bike riders.
i think i filled the survey out about a year ago..
there was a lot of talk about forestry stuff and track closures that i wont bore you northerners with.
but this was interesting,
• The majority of riders are men
• Ages of riders:
o 20% – under 24 years old
o 43% – 25 to 34 years old
o 20% – 35 to 44 years old
+ 17% – 45 to 72 years old
• South east areas of Victoria were the most popular for riding, ie; Neerim, Gembrook, Noojee Etc.
• The majority (71%) of riders go with close friends in a group of 2 to 5 riders (83%) and with other
riders between 25 and 34 years old (43%)
• Most go riding at least once every two months (79%) and generally ride for 2 to 4 hours (57%)
• 66% say exploring and looking for interesting tracks is the main reason for riding
Funny. Everyone I talk to says it’s the freedom. Getting away from the daily grind. I must only ride and talk with the other 34%
• 4 out of 10 paid between $1000 and $4999 for the trail bike they use on public land, but
enthusiast riders often spend in excess of $10,000 on their bikes and equipment.
thats all the useless information i have for today.
