Hi all
I am 47 and live on a farm at Willow Tree in Northern NSW. I ride a DRZ400, but have damaged my shoulder (so can`t try to ride like a teenager any more) so looking at changing from trail riding to adventure riding. I am looking at getting a Yamaha XT660Z so interested in any info on the bike, modifications, accessories, etc.
Cheers JimAugust 22, 2010 at 4:51 am #186291Hi Jim and welcome
, I too am from Northern NSW and also ride a Drz, you will get a heap of info from the guys on this site, their is a lot of experiance here and it’s helped me turn my Drz into something I never dreamed it could be.
Check out the Camerons Corner Thead for an up coming adventure ride ,It makes interesting reading to get set up for that type of riding, I managed to snag the last spot on this ride but their are rides coming along all the time.Cheers

August 22, 2010 at 6:55 am #186292Hi and welcome Jim. I have a XTZ660 Tenere and have carried out a heap of mods to make it a decent off road bike (well the sort I want anyway personal preference and all that
) I will put a thread together this week while in SA for work and make on decent thread on the bike and all the mods. How did you find OBT?
TB
August 22, 2010 at 7:15 am #186300thanks TB, that sounds great. I found out about OBT by accident while googling info on the tenere. The “old” appealed to me as I am beginning to feel that way, and also the “bull” as I have a few of those roaming the paddocks – so thought I would join up as none of my friends are into adventure bikes and I might meet some like-minded people and learn a bit on the way.
cheers

August 22, 2010 at 8:18 am #186294Welcome aboard Jim, you are in good company here mate, lots of old bulls and some younger ones too!! The drz is a good solid trail bike and though it may not be the the fastest bike around it will take you anywhere with a lot less maintenance than most.
Look forward to seeing you and your Banana on a ride soon.
