Gidday Everyone,
Just read Pete the Wulfs intro, he likes the same sort of areas I do so might have to try and get onto a ride with him, even if he does ride a KTM… I’m err sort of between bikes at the moment, got a ’05 TE450 but hoping to con the missus into springing for a WR300 for this season.
Love Dungog, been riding there for over 25 years, wouldn’t mind riding Warchoppy but heard some stories about fencing wire and shotties that put me off. Nabiac is another favorite.
Anyway, i’ll keep and eye on the posts and when i have mobile wheels again will get on board.Cheers
IvaJanuary 6, 2011 at 2:46 am #193949Welcome Iva!
always great riding around Dungog/Stroud/Bulahdelah area
Before putting your hard earned down on a WR300 have a chat to Mal5.1 I was a Husky bloke for many years having several of them ie 3×360’s 2×250’s and a 430 :woohoo:
Been riding the Gasgas now for close to 3 years and am very happy with how it goes.Hope to catch up for a ride with you soon

January 6, 2011 at 3:01 am #193950Gday IVA, thanks for the intro and welcome to OBT. What you have been told about Wauchope may be a little exagerated.
Get your self hooked up with Pete one weekend and I will show you round.January 6, 2011 at 4:41 am #193956Yeh Ollie,
I’ve had a few lets see, WR250 (’80), WR 430 (’82), WR250 (’95 ) and my current sled TE450. Also had a XR630 with full Ballards through it somewhere in the middle. Funny, bought that bike new, spent as much as it cost making it go Ok, replaced almost everything on it (including the frame!)and it was Ok when i sold it but pretty used. I rebuilt the old WR430 and it was maybe 8 or 9 years old when I got it, never broke, always went awesome the quality difference between the two was unbeleiveable. Thats why I’m not keen to move, had some mates who bought the KTM450s and they did a heap of engine bearings after a couple of years, I like riding bikes not working on them. I looked and the Gassers and TMs but I have a good relationship with my local Husky dealer and I recon for the price, I can get the WR300, a Rekluse clutch, port the cylinder, revalve the suspension and still come out close to the same money as the others new.
Still undecided though.Iva
January 6, 2011 at 4:43 am #193958That would be Great, thanks for the offer .. need to sort out my ride first though, still … plenty of hot weather to get through before riding weather starts.

January 8, 2011 at 8:29 pm #194081What made you decide to change Mal?

Quote:What made you decide to change Mal?Mianly cause I can rather than a need to. I had the Husky set up good for me I believe, just needed the jetting sorted and it would be a scary bit of gear. They don’t rev very high and short shifting is the key with the 300s.
The Gasser just sort of happened. I looked at the Euros and tested the standard and then talked to few guys that had the flash one so buy it.
I rode the Husky around the yard the other day and it eats the Gasser for low down torque. I can wheelie the Husky out of the band easy but not the Gasser.
I just like trying different bikes. A mate calls me ‘the founder of Obscure bike quarterly’ cause I don’t buy mainstream bikes.
