Introducing myself as I plan to tag along on the un-official ride in Feb from Mittagong.
I have lots of bikes, too many to cover here, but will be riding my XR650r that has been a work in progress for many years. Currently building a rallye fairing as my last (well not really) planned mod for long haul rides.
Just need to grab a GPS from work and if I have my fairing in place in time might even have somewhere to mount it.

Where are you based ?Will see you in Mittagong on the 15th

Based in Sydney and am a bit mad on the XR’s. I owned one when I worked for Honda. Had a range of different bikes but kept going back to the BRP as an all rounder for some reason.
I travel to the States a lot and I think the abundance of ideas and parts for them sort of kept me in them. It currently holds 38 litres and it stands 2 inches taller than standard.
I do like 2 strokes though. Not on a long haul, although Yamaha did release an RD250/350 based adventurer in the UK. That would interest me.
I am currently building a HPN style R80G/S so might be on a bavarian before too long.
January 4, 2013 at 4:08 am #234913Gday Ian, a few BRP riders are sticking there heads in as of late. A few of us know a good bike when we see one!
Enough of the skiting about it, I wanna see some pics of big red.
Thanks for the intro and welcome to OBT.
Cheers

It should be set up for a heavier rider but I work on the premise that a competition Baja rider at 100kg that can race at pace will put much more stress on the suspension than the average Joe.
So it was set up for competition and a lighter rider fully geared hitting it hard. It appears to cope with the weight of the fuel and luggage etc and in ST form well beyond me.
I almost purchased an electric leg for it last year but relented. I do like the Rekluse EXP and I think that is likely to be the final mod.
I have gone back to the original (but modded) exhaust with no noticeable loss in performance. It has the HRC cam but not the piston. I also have a rear hub to match the front with a 17 inch rim. I find the 17 better for transport stages and there is a greater selection of dual sport tyres.
There is always something I want to do. Mostly ride the thing. I have never done a group adventure with strangers so look forward to it.
