well I got an ion air pro Wi-Fi model here is my review for anyone interested
I bought this product after a long period of looking at the other brands go pro – sony – drift- contour ect
I mainly went for the ion as the shape was what I was looking for, drift came in close but lost out due to some of the other things ion can do!!!!
the camera is what you get no need to put it in a plastic box to submerse it in water its water proof to 10mtrs. the lens auto ajusts its angle so there Is no need to spin your lens around if the camera is on its side …. around the $400 mark full price ,,, my advice is to shop around I got mine for $250 on sale in qld purchased a 32gig mini sd card 2yr extended warranty came to$330 still well below full price……
attachments :: it comes with all the bells and whistles like the others not as many though but hopefully they will keep bringing more stuff out the helmet mount is a double sided tape which sticks to the clip the clip is simular to the drift a bit thinner though.. which held up well im hoping for a goggle mount soon>>>>
it has a remote to turn on and off but for what im doin with it i wont be buying one as the switch on top does the job its easy to find and operate just push forward and it will start recording even if it is off it will turn on!!!
when finished recording it will auto turn off with in 60sec or longer you set this up in the settings menu on the computer or I pad, the camera vibrates once when it starts recording and twice when you finish to let you know it has got the file… you can feel this even while riding a speed !!!!!!
like any new electrical device I went through the stage of wanting to smash it up the closest brick wall wile learning to use it but once I got used to it m sure it will serve me well and give all the old bulls a laugh every time I come off
it comes with all this stuff (beer not included) and its own movie maker program
look a bit far off the helmet but didn’t seem to make any differencecheers hope you all enjoyed but must go now

just in case

Yep it comes with one has a little clip half way down the lanyard for easy removal. (I lost it)
thanks ollieJuly 22, 2013 at 6:11 am #246701Might be a good idea, Ollie.
I think they use a lanyard when mounted to a surfboard.
Will make something up for Tims Go pro
Mal could of used one on the weekend
He was lucky to find it laying in the bush after the next days ride.
We searched through the footage that Tim had taken and Mal was able to pick the spot where his camera had probably gone missing.
Cheers
MurphJuly 22, 2013 at 6:11 am #246702Great review Andy
It looks like a great bit of kit
Well priced too……..
The video you took yesterday at Nundle was good, particularly the bit where you are making it up that last hill back to the cars :pinch: :pinch:
I wish you had it turned on when you were doing the steps

July 22, 2013 at 7:43 am #246708Great report Andy, I am happy with the drift as you just hit play on the wrist band and away you gou. The goggle mount gives mine a better view. I will show you the lanyard system I came up with, I will need to lose my goggles to lose the camera. Yours gives better vision than a go pro I recon.

July 22, 2013 at 9:16 am #246727I know it is a GoPro setup but a version of this would work.
singletrackmind wrote:On a recent ride I lost my GoPro in the bush. Normally whenever I feel it hit something I reach up to check but on this occasion I had not hit any branches but it was gone. On close inspection the mount had cracked and released the camera. As hard as Corey, Nick and myself tried to find it, it was gone.
New GoPro arrived this week and I have made a tether for it so this cannot happen again.
My helmet (Fox V2) has front ports that a small cable tie can fit through perfectly. I used this as the base anchor point and then tied up some strong cord the way you do to hold your leg rope to your board.
I looped the camera through that and secured the other end to the hinge pin on the back of the GoPro housing.
I also mounted the optional rubber bracket plug (white insert) so it can not release accidentally. To remove the camera I have just enough slack so that I cant feed the camera back through the loop in the leash when I want to remove it and all I am left with is the standard mount and a small cable tie through he vent.
Hopefully saves some one else from an unnecessarily expensive trail ride.

July 22, 2013 at 9:18 am #246730Hi Andy,
Good review mate. Does the camera have a wind cut or adjustable audio setting as the wind noise is pretty loud when you get out of third gear. It will make editing tricky later on if you want to retain the bike noise and add a soundtrack or voice over.
