I cant believe the small amount of wear for so much riding.Yeah they last forever, but wait till you put a a different tyre on and realise how much traction you have been missing out on  I used to run them they dont wear for sure, ah the search for both

AnonymousIt’s on my list of tyres to try since it’s got such a good wrap. I’m looking to find a tyre that I like to use 9 times out of 10, a do it all tyre if you will, or one at least that does it all well.
I’m doing the smae with the front. The Washougal and the Scorpion will be hard contender’s t beat I reckon, but this tyre could make it interesting.
August 10, 2009 at 5:16 am #146526Anyone interested in my current opinion of the IRC??
The knobs are 6fiddy tough and are still all intact after 90km ,from what I can work out the taller side walls, although 6 ply are soft.
Either that or I am unlucky as I put a hole in the side wall you can put your finger in,in the first 12km’s.
I am presuming it was bad luck and other than that, it lugged up well and threw rocks at the other riders as good as any tyre I have had in the past.
On the upside they have a rim protecting ridge on the tyre and they are easy to fit
Although I am disappointed to have stuffed it in such a short distance,I will watch with baited breath to see if anyone else have a similar sidewall incident.August 10, 2009 at 5:26 am #147766micknmeld wrote:

Years ago I put a stick through the side wall of a $240 desert tyre as used by 80% of the safari field, the shop couldn’t believe it, it happens as you said its 6 ply and its no taller in the wall profile then a Pirelli Scorpion or a ED78 Bridgestone. Even bad luck can happen to you, maybe a garlic necklace next time(private joke)

August 10, 2009 at 5:32 am #147767Guys,
I’ve had my eye on a particular tyre of late, but not so sure if it will fit on the DRZ.
Informed opinions appreciated.August 10, 2009 at 6:21 am #147768It might be a bit wide for the tight single track TW.
Good to see she bottles her f^rts and pipes it into the engine, enviro friendly that eh!
August 10, 2009 at 10:09 am #147774I pulled the tube out of the tyre this arvo and it was in fact a 19″ big wheel 85 tube that saved the day for me yesterday.
I gave the irc the once over and here are the pics.
With no tube.
Here it is with a new ultra heavy tube in.
What are your thoughts?? Should I replace a 90km old tyre?
August 10, 2009 at 10:37 am #147821good to see you were able to complete the ride Mick;)
With the Tyre I would still be using it,maybe put a Vulcanizing patch on the inside and a dab of black silastic on the outside, shouldnt give you any problems

August 10, 2009 at 9:26 pm #147847just keep using the tyre she will be right reckon that can happen to any brand tyre mick seen a metzler with a gash the other day to
August 10, 2009 at 10:08 pm #142642For the time it takes I would whip the tyre off and patch from inside, even with heavy duty tubes it could become a tube pinching machine and nothing worse than mutiple punctures to ruin your day!!
