Quote:For the time it takes I would whip the tyre off and patch from inside, even with heavy duty tubes it could become a tube pinching machine and nothing worse than mutiple punctures to ruin your day!!:dry:Thats a good point Boulder, as the tyre rotates and expands and contracts the softer tube could get caught in the opening and closing hole, would pinch it for sure, even a heavy duty. Food for thought mick

August 10, 2009 at 10:39 pm #147849I am getting good at changing tyres now, so I will go to the tyre service across the road from my office and see what they have to fix the case.
August 14, 2009 at 6:14 am #147851My mate at the tyre service across the road has put a vulcanising patch on the inside of the case and all is good.$20 well spent I think considering he even fitted the tyre.
August 14, 2009 at 6:52 am #142643Good deal Mick!! Next time you ride you can enjoy with peace of mind.

August 19, 2009 at 11:16 am #148306My IRC has now done nearly 450kms and is looking ok, I cant take a photo of them as it is at Dan’s but it has offered fantastic traction in all conditions, I did notice a couple of knobs had the corners chunked a little, need to get some photos. They are easy to fit and are at this stage good value for money at $105.
More to come after the next ride as its 350kms over all surfaces

AnonymousI’ll give the IRC a go at some point, unless it’s better than the Kenda that will likely be my ‘everyday’ tyre from now on
August 25, 2009 at 11:25 pm #149118Hows your IRC going Mick, I see you went to Beechwood pub on the bike on Sunday that’s all bitumen, but have you done anything else, you haven’t mentioned how it feels, only that you ripped a hole the sidewall (through not fault of it)Just wondering how you found it in the dirt?

Luggs up pretty good in the dirt. I have hit a few challanging hills and it passed with flying colours.I even got it into a bog hole with the sole intention of roosting Tripper as he came around the corner,as he came round the corner I dump the clutch and the dam thing gripped in the snotty mud and just wheel stood out of the bog with minimum of spin causing me to nearly flip the XR much to Trippers amusement.
I also managed to put 67km of tar riding on it on Saturday and sunday. Afterwards I made sure i checked it to see how it was wearing and am quite suprised how little damage was done to the knobbs. The knobs are still all intact,I did notice though that there are stretch marks on the backside of the knob that may convert into tears later down the track.Time will tell. At the moment I am happy with the tyre as a whole.August 26, 2009 at 4:56 am #150186micknmeld wrote:
